Ok, now the wedding is out of the way, my attentions are turned to decorating our new flat and doing the odd bit of DIY.
I will undoubtedly have loads of questions on a variety of topics, on which perhaps you chaps could advise.
Can we have a DIY/decorating/home maintenance page amongst all the other interests, or should I continue to post those types of topics on the pub forum?

Its probably got as legitimate a claim as some other forums but real men do DIY and real men go down the pub so may as well post them here for now.

PS For future reference with respect to DIY etc I am a bumbling amateur at best but have made plenty of mistakes which I can give good advice on avoiding!

Your wish appears to have been granted

Good luck with the DIY. I've just spent all weekend re-doing the playroom. 'Auntie' wanted a new wardrobe in there to keep all the dressing up outfits in (the children's, not hers  ), but somehow that turned into having to strip all the wallpaper, sand down all the wood, line the walls, paint them (and the ceiling), put wardrobe and a couple of extra shelves up and clean the carpets!!

Quite enjoyable, but not quite what I was expecting! At least I got to have the footie and Rugby on all weekend

I do a lot of DIY. Essentially, it's how I earn my living.

Currently towards the latter stages of stripping out an old bathroom (incl. cast iron bath that almost broke my back getting downstairs). Got the new toilet in, stripped back and repainted all the woodwork, tiled every other surface - including the ceiling! - and should finish the grouting today. Next, I'll plumb in the bath and basin and have my first proper wash in far too long.

If you think I might be able to help in any way just ask.

Feel free to ask for any advice.

Yellows with time due to sunlight and sap seeping from the wood, even if you use the best quality paints and "knot stoppers" it will still yellow.

i don't find that remotely funny - i find it offensive given the context of your previous tone. if you want to have another pop at my expense then do so via private message, then i'll respond accordingly away from this thread :)
