Thanks for the effort softcoal, and the league tables. Where do I go from here? Europe, the world, the universe? Or is the only way down? (inevitable - I have had so much luck at FPL this year, offset by my usual failures in TFF, etc).

Well played Dougal-just the odd 113 points ahead of me,which I think is down to rather more than luck.
So after 2 solid years in The Premier, albeit without a title,I've done a Venkys.
New Year,New Strategy-the fightback starts here.

Phase 4 Game 1 GW 19

Some nice scores in a relatively low scoring gameweek.
Nedved, with 77, leads the Premier.
El Tel of Ealing leads Division 1 with 70.
Dronning Maud Land and SOBD are atop Division 2 with 60 each.
Alwaysonthebeer has 55 to top Division 3, and
ThePom stands tall in Division 4 with 64.

Thanks for the many kind remarks, but it's nice to see reds363 respond, and I personally think
the game is missing something without his leadership and comments.

A nice sentiment softcoal, which most of us who've been playing this sidegame for a long time will endorse.

However, reds363 will no doubt be pleased to see this splendid sidegame he created continue to flourish, thanks to your willingness to pick up the baton when he found himself struggling to cope with the many demands on his time.

If reds363 finds himself in a position to resume control of the game sometime, no doubt you'll be only too happy to hand the reins back to him,and he knows from the strength of support he has always received, that he would be welcomed back with open arms notwithstanding the superb job you are doing in the meantime to keep the show on the road, which we all appreciate.

Yeah, you're doing a great job softcoal.

This opinion is not in any way linked to the fact I'm in Divison 2...

The sidegames are definately something that makes FISO special and I really appreciate the efforts of both reds363 in creating a great game and softcoal in helping to keep it going.

Thanks also to everyone who's had a go at starting a side game, whether or not it's developed a life of it's own like the Divisional Championship, it's always worthwhile to try something new.

Doogal leads the Premier, but look at El Tel of Healing making his bid to return to the top league!
We've had a request for a point recount for Division 2, but it looks as though the Real Slim Shady is legit. Viva continues his hot streak in Division 3, and the new leader in Division 4 is Elvis77.

How's that wildcard working out?

In the Premier, Nedved and Jimmyhill move past Doogal, with Colbert, bossdrum, and Beerfueledman all lurking.

In Division 1, El Tel of Healing continues his romp back to the upper division.

The Real Slim Shady, I repeat, The Real Slim Shady gets some cred with the Division 2 lead, with Calvin 1979 trying to close in on the promotion spots. Also in Division 2, a three way tie between TheTon, marxist, and dazbowski to avoid relegation,

Viva is coasting in Division 3, and a surprise comback puts DixieDean in the top spot for Division 4.

Some humble pie for yours truly, used my wildcard and earned a 1,542,380 ranking for the week.

Two GW's remain in Phase 4.

I am having an absolute stinker of a run so to be 4th in the Premier is not a good reflection on the quality of this forum

Hunting down Nedved to regain what was stolen from me last phase

I notice in the rules it states that late entrants go into the bottom division. Is it too late to sign up now, and if not please could I? :)

Duncancosgrove, I'll put you in for the start of Phase 5, beginning GW 24.
Organdonor47 has also expressed a desire to join the competition and he too will be added beginning GW24.

Welcome aboard!

I'd hoped to go from basement to top table in consecutive promotions but being gash all through january has put paid to that. Staying in 1 is the priority now.

GW 22 SCORES

DC4.4.jpg
DC4.4.jpg [ 269.08 KiB | Viewed 320 times ]

A few weeks ago, Jonathan posted that one of his favorite things about the Divisional Championships is that you can check out how the top FISO managers are doing with a quick glance at the tables. With that thought in mind, and with the aid and direction of Romyn, I have added a GW column to indicate each managers score for the GW just played. Hopefully this addition will add to your viewing pleasure!

Unlike many of the other exciting FISO sidegames, there aren't any teammates to cover your back in the DC's. If you make a mess of it, you've got no one to dig you out of the hole. More frequently than not, most of us find ourselves in that situation. It's a lonesome feeling.

We are down fo our final week in Phase 4. At present the Division Leaders are owenclass, Softcoal (ahem), Gowanyalanger, FingerPass and Knotty.

Special acclaim goes to owenclass, who just won a tiebreaker last Phase to earn promotion, and now he leads the Premier. Great job owenclass.

Also, a lot of tight races for the promotion spots, but the tightest is in Division 4 with bristolciteh and Marching on Together tied for the last spot at 210.

Finally, I'm not sure what happened to our friend DrBunker - fell and hit his head, had a few too many and logged onto his team, or just an act of total frustration, but whatever, he inflicted a rather large transfer penalty on himself this week? Better fortunes to the good Dr. in GW 23.

To tell the truth neither am I but it would appear my wildcard is still unused! I'd love to say I was drunk or in some way coerced into making 24 penalty points of changes but I honestly thought I made use of the January WC on Saturday morning.

This season goes from strength to strength!!

I'm impressed, you seem to be taking this quite well DrB! I'd have been completely inconsolable and may have been driven to acts that would end with me staying in a padded cell.

On the subject of the league though, hopefully i can finally get myself out of this division with one final push.....

Consider my GW score, I'm lucky to still have a shout at promotion. Good call with the GW scores on the tables Softcoal, and totally agree that there is no hiding place in this sidegame

It's got a lot to do with my season as a whole! I'm managing my team week in week out and just failing, sometimes through bad luck and sometimes by having players like Sessengon sitting on my bench! The funny thing is I still love the game so rest assured boss I'm determined to turn it around. :)

I remember seeing the WC option and honestly can't remember how I managed to make transfers and ignore the warnings without choosing to use it. I'm sure it's entirely my fault though so there's no one else to blame.

Nice touch! Every time I look at this at the moment, I look straight at the relegation places, but it seems I am still clinging on. Forgot to change my captain from Yakubu last week, but vice-captain Bale saved me from total embarrassment.

Seven New Managers join the Divisional Championships

One week remains in Phase 4. After GW23 new champions will be named and the Divisions will be regrouped to reflect all promotions and relegations.

However, with the January Transfer Window, the DC's are adding 7 new managers for the start of Phase 5: Organdonor47, Duncancosgrove, coryphaeus, yorkshiredragon, mowatson, The Dazzler, and Stemania. Join me in welcoming them to the game. We'll all need to do our best to keep them in the bottom division.

As a result of the additions, I expect that there will be a few additional promotions this week to balance the divisions. A few lucky managers will need to thank the newcomers for their good fortunes.
