Welcome to the proper beginning of the 2010/11 Divisional Championships!

Sorry for the rushed intro: I’ve had internet problems in my newly-moved-into flat so this has been a bit of a panic to get posted in time!

RULES OF THE DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Participants
The initial participant list has been compiled from all FISO members stating their wish to play the game on this thread. The initial divisions in which each member will start have been decided by a method described below, the positions published there are final.

New players may join the game at any time by stating their request to enter in this thread, and giving me a link to their team. New players will not have their points backdated; they will begin scoring from the first update after I receive their request to enter.

Game Phases
The game will take place over a number of ‘periods’ per season. Each period will consist of a pre-determined number of gameweeks. For the 2008/09 season, the periods will run as follows:
Phase 1: Gameweek 4 – Gameweek 8
Phase 2: Gameweek 9 – Gameweek 13
Phase 3: Gameweek 14 – Gameweek 18
Phase 4: Gameweek 19 – Gameweek 23
Phase 5: Gameweek 24 – Gameweek 28
Phase 6: Gameweek 29 – Gameweek 33
Phase 7: Gameweek 34 – Gameweek 38

Game Format
The participating teams are split into divisions. Teams compete in a league against other teams in their division over each period, using their score from the Fantasy PremierLeague.com game. All points as awarded by the administrator of this game are final. At the end of each period, the teams will be ranked in order by the points scored during the period. Depending on your position, you may be promoted to the division above, or relegated to the division below, in time for the beginning of the next period.

Structure of Divisions
There are five divisions, namely the Premier Division and Divisions 1-4. At the beginning of the season the number of teams in each division will be 22,26,26,30,30 respectively. This is variable and will change throughout the season due to any new entrants. New players entering the competition late will always join in the bottom division.

Promotion and Relegation
The top 5 teams at the end of each period in each division below the Premier Division will be promoted to the division above. The bottom 5 teams at the end of each period in each division except the bottom division will be relegated to the division below. These numbers are increased to 6 between Divisions 2 and 3, and between 3 and 4. Extra promotion or relegation spaces may be created from time to time as divisions get larger, or to prevent an excess of teams accumulating in the lowest division as new teams join, these will be advertised and fixed at the first update of each phase.

Ranking
Teams within a division will be ranked on the following criteria:
1. Total points scored during the phase (taking into account relevant transfer deductions).
2. Week-by-week head-to-head record during the phase against tied teams.
3. Overall FPL rank for the whole season to date.
4. Most FISO posts on the current forum.

Transfer deductions
Any transfer deductions you incur during a phase will be counted in your score. However, deductions incurred at the beginning of the first week of each phase will be ignored. In the week you play your wildcard, no transfer deductions will be made. Additionally, if you make two free transfers in a week using FPL’s “free transfer rollover” rule, you will incur no deductions.

Updates
Tables will be updated once each gameweek, at my earliest convenience following the confirmation of the final gameweek scores by FPL.com. If you believe I have updated your score incorrectly, please make me aware of my error.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Qualification
Below you will see what division you are to start in, after your performance last season and your score so far this season have been taken into account.

Under “09/10” in the table is the division you finished last year’s Divisional Championships (if applicable) and your PleaseLinkToFiso score (if applicable). These were combined as explained in the sign-up thread to create your headstart (“Hstart” in table). This was added to your score so far in this season’s first three gameweeks (“GW3” in table) to create your Qualifying Score.

Divisions were decided as follows. First all those who ended last season in the Prem were placed in the Prem due to the guarantee as such. Then the remaining places in the Prem were given to those with the best Qual Score of all other managers. Next anyone who ended last May in Div 1 (except those who had just won a place in a higher league) was placed in Div 1. The rest of the spaces in Div 1 were filled by those with the best Qual Score of all remaining managers. And the same for Divs 2 and 3, with Div 4 taking the final 30 that were left.

So here it is then :D

So well done to Phantomscythe, Le Red and me ( :D ) for winning the three spaces up for grabs in the Prem. Unlucky to Baganboy and especially Hancockjr (a newcomer to this side-game, just fractions of a point away from instantly making the top tier!), but good luck looking for an early promotion! Congrats to everyone else that’s earnt a summer bonus rise up the leagues, and to all new players in this game that have won a tasty starting division. No less than 6 newcomers to the Div Champs starting right up in Division 1! And to those of you starting out in Division 4, look no further than Ironfist for your inspiration: he was in your position 12 months ago but by May had reached the top half of the Premier Division!

One notice regarding Suzykins: I have reason to suspect his FPL link might be out-of-date (and he’s not in the FISO league so that’s all I’ve had to go on), unfortunately I only realised yesterday and I don’t have the time to investigate now - but I will do when I return from holiday. He has been placed in Division 3 based on scores of his FPL link, but if I find that link is indeed wrong and his true scores should have placed him in Div 4, I will retrospectively demote him and admit Colbert to Division 3 instead. (I will not retrospectively promote Suzykins if true scores turn out to be higher.)

Good luck everyone for Phase 1, which runs from GW4 to GW8 inclusive! (And finally sorry in advance: there almost certainly won’t be an update for the first week GW4, since I’m away till almost the GW5 deadline. I will do a combined update for the first two weeks after GW5 has finished.)

Well done for managing to get it all done in time despite your difficult circumstances and enjoy your holiday reds363 :D

( the sign of a man confident about keeping his place in the Premier Division to go on holiday while the game's in progress !)

Nice one reds.

Great to see I still have my place in the top flight despite my horrendous start to the season. Hopefully things will pick up for me now, just in time to make an impact in the only league that matters.

How many Incredibles in the Champo? All apart from Le Red methinks (save some of the luck for the 5AS ol' boy  )

Love this game, thanks for starting it again reds363.

The SUZYKINS enquiry has reached it's verdict thanks to the link to his team on the 5AS thread. His 09/10 score of 2156 should have given him a headstart of 15.6 points, added to his 123 points at the end of GW3 gives a qualifying score of 138.6 which is way down in Division 4. So in an amendment to the tables posted at the top, Colbert is in fact playing in Division 3 for Phase 1 and SUZYKINS in Division 4.

Back from hols now but still won't be rushing out the first update before GW5 starts, sorry, I have all my teams to attend to! I hope Phase 1 started well for you though with GW4, and good luck for this weekend :D

Oooh oooh in a promo spot in Div 1 - I always think of Div 1 as my spiritual home - I always seem to gravitate back there - so perhaps I will fall back into the pack (he says, looking at his team for the forthcoming weekend!).

Did you notice that your score is only one off the best score and would be enough to top any of the other leagues? I could be swapping with you at this rate!

Congrats to Brightwater, Knulpuk and mrdrj who have moved to the top of their respective leagues, and to Fil16 and Dufresne who have held onto their positions leading Divisions 2 and 4! :D

So it seems GW6 wasn't a good week for most of us, better luck for GW7!
