I have Defoe in on of my teams but he does not seem to be playing much... Should I get rid? I have 18 transfers left, 0 in the bank and my team is as follows:
Krul
Assou-Ekotto, Richards, Walker
Nani, Silva, Downing, Arteta
Rooney, Defoe, Sturridge

My other team has Adebayor, Van Persie and Aguero up front and I am keen to keep them as different as possible.

Any help is welcome!

Adebayor cant play at Man City as he is their player

Defoe should also play at Watford on Sat 28th

Hold off until Jan 31st to transfer (or even Sunday 29th if Spurs is on Saturday)

How about Dafoe  Ba, as and when he returns from African Cup Of Nations, injury free, etc both worth 5.4. Ba more likely to feature for N'cle than Dafoe for Spurs given appearences to date.

Bit of a mystery why Dafoe doesn't feature more when you look at the stats; 8 starts = 54 points, 6.75 per game. 7 sub = 17 points. Pretty good return given gametime. Worth bearing in mind given Judio's point.

Ba is obviously this season's surprise package, scoring for fun and likely to be first on Pardew's team sheet.

Given the transfers used already might be worth sitting tight til the January window slams shut and see who ends upwhere; Ba, Zamora, etc all rumoured to move.

Edit: Dafoe

Harry mentioned about the system means he only plays one striker with VdeV behind

Defoe works better in a front two

The most puzzling thing with your team is that you have used 12 transfers and yet you still have Downing in your team.
You must have the patience of a saint to have kept him throughout his drought.
(I'm assuming that you have not just brought him into your team because he has finally hit form with his first goal of the season last week).

Don't get rid of Defoe just yet - he will get more action soon.

I'll sit tight for the time being. Should I get rid of Downing now? Any good replacement in mind?

If I was you i'd stick with him for now - 2 good fixtures coming up at home to Stoke, then away at Bolton where his purple patch might continue.
Then if Downing gets nothing more than appearance points from these next two games, transfer him out and take your pick from the long list of lesser priced midfielders who have outscored him so far.

Spurs at Watford confirmed for the Friday night along with Everton v Fulham.

If you are going to get rid of Defoe then you could switch on the Saturday morning with Liverpool v Man U team news ???

I'd stick with Defoe til after the Watford game, for the reasons above. Downing, stick with too, as per dukegs point. Maybe 'breaking his duck' v City will give the lad a boost, couple of (supposed) easier fixtures upcoming. End of Jan looks like your time to pounce given the transfers already used (I can appreciate this as I've had to burn as many in a work SL). Options for Downing (& Arteta?) are vast. With zero budget Defoe - Ba is equal money and the stats speak for themselves.

If Defoe goes to Liverpool - I'd stick with him.

I followed your advice and kept Defoe (I transferred Downing and Arteta though). 16 transfers left and the following team now:
Krul
Assou-Ekotto, Richards, Walker
Nani, Silva, Dempsey, Sessegnon
Rooney, Defoe, Sturridge

Defow now needs to go. Straight swap to Ba? When is he back? Other options include Yakubu, Wellbeck, Agbonlahor, Bent... What do you reckon?

On another point - surely RVP had to come in for Rooney yesterday ?! and Larsson/Walcott for Nani

To do a Sybil Fawlty and state the bleedin obvious, you have to buy RVP. The details are secondary.

Out: Nani + Defoe
In: RVP + ? (Mata, Bale, Walcott)

Would that be OK? Any preference?

Depends if Defoe plays (home to Wigan!)

I'd do Rooney (assuming still injured) RVP and consider when/if to sell Nani and/or Defoe and/or sturridge. If they start tonight (home games) then I certainly wouldn't sell.

It is your team you have to consider who you want and you are happy with. Ba back soon.
