FS Record: not bad
It's back. Basically the same as last season and no longer shared with The Metro:

http://fantasyfootball.dailymail.co.uk

Creating Your Team
Choose 11 players and 1 substitute to form your team. You have £100m to spend and can choose any of the following formations: 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 5-3-2 or 3-5-2.

You can bring your substitute into your team at any time before the first scheduled kick-off each day. This means, you can get best value out of your 12 man squad to maximise your chances to score points and best of all, it doesn't use up any of your transfers! You can swap your substitute with any player in your team, provided that it creates a valid team formation.

Scoring Points
The game will start with the first Premier League matches scheduled for 14th August 2010. Here’s how to score:

All players
Full appearance +2 pts
Part appearance +1 pt
Win bonus +3, Draw bonus +1 pt
Goal scored (inc penalty shoot-outs) keeper/defender +10 pts, midfielder +8 pts, striker +5 pts
Key contribution to a goal +3 pts
Yellow card –2 pts (2 yellow cards leading to a red card will count –5 pts)
Sent off –5 pts
Missed penalty (inc penalty shoot-outs) – 5 pts

For defenders and goalkeepers only:
Clean sheet (players completing full match only) +4 pts
Clean sheet (players completing part of a match only) +2 pts
Goal conceded –1 pt
For goalkeepers only: penalty save (inc shoot-outs) +5 pts (for these points to be awarded the goalkeeper must have touched the ball with some part of his body

Your nominated captain scores double points.

Scores and leaderboards will be updated daily on the Game Website.

Making Transfers
You'll be able to make lots of changes to your team throughout the season. You can make 16 transfers up to December 28, 2010 - then we’ll give you another 16 transfers for the second half of the season. (Note: Unused transfers cannot be carried forward). You can make as many transfers as you like at a time. Players brought in after the first scheduled kick-off time each day will not score points until the following day.

Up to kick-off of the first Premier League game on Saturday14th August, 2010, a transfer amnesty operates so you can make as many transfers as you wish!

Team Captain

You must nominate one of your players as Captain – he’ll score double points for your team (minus points are doubled too!). You’ll be able to change your Captain nomination 5 times up to December 28, 2010, and a further 5 times after this date.

Mini Leagues
Fantasy Football is much more fun if you compete against your mates. So why not set up a Mini League and challenge your mates. You can use the ‘Mail My Mates’ facility on the website to get them to play. You’ll still compete in the main league but you also get the chance to win the £5,000 Mini League prize too. Each of your teams can participate in up to 5 Mini Leagues. Get 10 or more teams in your league at the start of the season and you could win our £500 Chairman’s Award.

Prizes
Winner £20,000
Runner up £5000
Third £1000
Best Mini-league £5000
Best original team £500
Golden Boot £500
Manager of the wekk £500
Manager of the month £700
Knock out cup winner £5000

At least if you live in the UK there is a possiblility that one might buy their paper sometimes - what is their upside for people outside the UK ?

Err...the possibility that they might visit the Mail's Web Site - or buy the overseas edition of the paper (very useful in those countries where toilet paper is in short supply).

In Daily Mail game, I can't work out from T & Cs whether the win bonus applies to win after penalty shoot-out, or do both teams just get one point for the draw after 120 mins?

Do they do the scores daily? So you can have GK's playing on the Sat and Sun etc?

Nice spot davidleve. This is my favourite fantasy football game and its free. Loads of tinkering, benching, captain changes, more points for goals in different positions, bonus points for wins, change before each match etc etc - far better than FPL IMHO.

Anyone who plays it loves it and all the hardcore players are involved too. A glitch in this game is what led me to FISO in the first place. If I had to choose one game to play I would not even have to think about it - it'd be this one.

Can't wait to get stuck in :D

(Scores update before 10 following morning blah)

...and now sunday for monday too, with the extra bench positions. Can only be a good thing, especially to stop multis (they know who they are) as it's much more labour intensive.

On a slightly (or even more) more cynical note, it does of course mean more page hits for the mail - for those that keep their teams up to speed - and the daily mail is gunning for most viewed english language website worldwide. http://thenextweb.com/media/2011/04/19/ ... -comscore/ A horrible paper with a history even worse, but i'll be happy to remove prize money from their coffers if i should be lucky enough.

You've lost me, hasn't this always been the case? You can move from your bench anytime up to first kick off including midweek games?

(Agree with taking money from the Dail Fail btw)

...just means more opportunities for moving subs around - or more to the point, you have to keep a close eye on your team or else missing chances to score. Yes it's always been the case, but now with 4 subs, more chances for planning once the tv schedules are announced (possibly tomorrow around 11 am-ish).

Gotcha, that is what I love about this game, it keeps you looking for opportunities before every game not just the mad rush on Saturday mornings.

Surely you could best express any revulsion for them by not participating. Success for them will be judged by the number of entries. So by entering you are helping them.

No. I don't buy the paper, or click through adverts on their website. And taking an absurd moral highground on which promoters competitons i wanted to play might result in not being able to take part in any.
