Ouch.

I know a few people that have come off on the ice. No major injuries luckily though. I tend to stick to the MTB over the winter, even on the road. Less miles but still good training. 25 miles on Sunday through muddy trails took 3 1/2 hours and was easily harder than a 60 mile spin on the road in the same time.

As long as I get a good 250 to 300 miles a month in from now on I'll be fine for the spring. Won't be doing very many rides of over 50 miles though - probably not many over 30 to be honest until we get into March.

I only managed 120 miles in December. Already over that this month. 160 so far and another 30 hopefully tonight.

It was very icy yesterday and three of our club riders fell on black ice and one broke his femur! :shock: He is being operated on today. I was planning to go out with that group, but changed at the last minute to a group going shorter (50 miles) but on main roads. Glad I made that call now.

I walked over 120 miles to and from work in December! My arm has fully recovered and am picking my bike up this weekend. Hoping to get out on Sunday, weather permitting! Steady 50 I think :lol: probably turn round half way and head back over the hills on my own.

Managed to still hit the deck over Christmas, though i was rather drunk at the time, in an effort to avoid falling on my bust arm i did a horizontal pike after slipping on ice and managed to headbutt the ice on my left side also bruising my ribs in the process. Kids eh!

Good 2 hour session at Manchester Velodrome on Sunday. It's a great place to go, and riding the boards is a real buzz. Everyone was on a huge high afterwards.

I've gotta try and get down there this year :|

Cultivation of my cyclist tan lines began in earnest yesterday :D ! Monster 116m ride from Knutsford- to the picturesque LLangollen and up the Horse Shoe Pass back through Wrexam with hardly an A road in sight. Brillaint day! Have to say the Horse Shoe was a lot tougher than expected ie a lot steeper, it was sign posted near the top at 20% although It didn't feel anywhere near that tbh. Great views going up, with the remains of an abbey on the right. Named the Horse shoe for the curve around the valley (obv) great for seeing the stragglers behind but not so good for viewing the angle of the cars in the distance. Looking forward to next week!

1st Cyclox race today. Damn hard - some serious national standard riders there. Finished though and not last :lol: Too slow on the MTB on the faster grass sections, but as quick as anyone on the technical stuff. Enjoyable, in a kind of painful way.

Enjoyable=key word.

Those powerful Roadie legs, moving that knobbly rear tyre over those roots and driving through the sigletrack 8-)

very well done unc, I wish I was still as keen (applause).
