Anyone seen this, it's the best comedy on the box.

I decided to watch it after Ricky Gervais plugged it in his interview with Larry David (co-creator of Seinfeld) last week.

Larry stars as himself (in name and job) but adopts a different character. It is magic, I was p*ssing myself all the way through the first two episodes I watched.

Different gravy, highly recommended.

Ditto. All four series. Better than the Office and Extras IMHO. Certainly not as cringeworthy. Haven't heard anyone who didn't like it (although that might just be my bizarre circle of friends...)

Watched season 4 which has just finished on More 4, must admit that was the first I had heard of it and I'm a bit of a Seinfeld fan. In the Seinfeld box sets Larry David said that the George character was loosly based on himself, you can see that in Curb Your Enthusiasm, only a bit more exagerated. Excellent stuff. Just ordered seson 1 & 2 with some vouchers I won last month. Can't wait til they get here. :) You can keep your titty bang bangs this is real comedy.

Edit: Agree about Arrested Development too, very funny.

Absolutely brilliant - Larry David is a comic genius. I've got all 4 series on DVD and it just keeps getting better. It's been buried by the TVNZ schedulers (as the BBC did to Seinfeld), but I was lucky that friends in the UK alerted me to it (and showed a couple of episodes) when I was over there in 2004.

In some ways David has taken the opposite approach to Seinfeld where the dialogue was very sharp and finely-crafted, but many of the plots were fairly inconsequential. CYE is far more of a situation comedy, with threads running through each series, but a lot of the dialogue is pretty loose - even ad-libbed at times.

You may not have seen the programme Ricky Gervais meets Larry David, but Larry David made it clear that the programmes are totally unscripted. He said that each scene has an outline plot and then they just take it from there. He made the point that the casting of the minor characters took a long time becuase he had to be certain that they would be able to maintain this approach dring a long scene.

Which series, TRSS?? Larry received the sharp end of Loretta's tongue a few times in 6 and 7.

The good news is that Series 8 is being made and will be shown next year. Hard to imagine that Larry can top the Seinfeld Renunion in Series 7 but, then again, the guy doesn't seem to struggle to produce new, and highly innovative, material.

Pure comic genius!

If you can remember the episode when Larry was in the restroom and he overheard the 'N' word, so he was explaining it to his friend at his house when he quoted what the dude said, then she caught him saying it. It was hilarious, think back if you can
