Well ok my team value has risen 1.0m this week then but considering that they need to rise 0.2m to make a 0.1m profit its all been a bit of a waste of time as when i transfer them out again my net gain is going to be 0.0m.

I didnt want to. I was kinda forced to.

Hasnt exactly helped the American ryder cup team since X-Man gets to pick from 11 each week either and i have had to quit my F1 team.

On the bright side i think i am going to win the Masters Golf. :D

Timmy Howard actually rose last night. I think my threshold for rising was a little too high as he only actual recieved an extra 50 odd NTIs (instead of the 300 odd I predicted he would need)

P.S. Rush Rule!

I'm not sure about Drogba. I'm currently looking into it.

I quote from the rules for dropping:- "A player whose price has previously risen may still follow the rules above when it comes to dropping if his ownership is low enough. However players where the absolute value of the 9% threshold will be greater than the NTI threshold will fall at the negative NTI threshold. "

Does this apply to a player who has already risen once in a game week? In the case of Drogba, his threshold for dropping should be approx double the previous threshold (about 2x -9000, or -18000). However since drogba's price is higher than his price at the start of the season, I have his drop threshold changing to -1xRise threshold.... i.e. -18000 > -9371, so the drop threshold is changed to -9371. It just seems a bit of a radical threshold change but it may be genuine.

(My head hurts!)

Great job in picking up this service from slarty. I find this thread one of the most useful of all in planning transfers. One suggestion that I personally would find useful is to indicate somehow when the players you have identified have actually changed price. Slarty did it by making the font size smaller but you could use a third colour if you wanted to be different. Regardless, thanks a lot for making the effort.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement.

I've always planned to include a list of the players whose prices did change. In fact I've already written the Access query that calculates the list, it's just that it needs a little opitmisation. I'll have a go this afternoon whilst watching the goals come though on Sky Sports News

This is a really interesting thread. Only discovered it today but will check it every GW now.

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but if it takes about 9359 NTO for a player's value to drop (and 25% less for an injured player, right?)... then why has Tottenham's Assou-Ekotto dropped from 5.0M to 4.4M since GW17 when only a few hundred people have been taking him out each week?

In total, it looks like around 8000 people have transferred him out since he was worth 5.0M.

Anyone know the explanation for him dropping so much?

Cheers. Good luck everyone for the double gameweek!

Hi, Berthe, and welcome to the posting world! :D
While the NTI required to make a player's price rise is the same for everyone (though the nec. figure itself can change) price drops are different.
Their algorithm includes the '% of teams owned by' stat, meaning that as few as 900 NTOs might be enough to 'drop' a player owned by 2% of the total number of managers, while 9000 NTOs would be enough for a player owned by 20% (figures are for e.g. only!).
Regarding injured players, their price fall is protected by increasing a second aspect of the same algorithm from the usual constant (for all) of 9% to 25%, making their drops in price less frequent.

I'm afraid it isn't easy to explain. The very first post on this thread contains everything we understand to be the case, but due to FPL.com not publishing all the necessary data precisely we can only approximate certain values.
Hope that helps.

Berthe welcome to the forum..... DiamondPlus is doing an outstanding job on the price tracking.
In a nutshell the way a player price falls depends on a number of factors.
In the case of Assou-Ekotto he is in 1% or less of the total number of teams in the fpl website league, so he is in about about 12,286 teams today. Normally I would expect his price to fall when about 10% of these 12286 managers who have him sell him, so if about 1228 managers sell him his price will fall. (Some managers are buying him at the same time, so as long as the number selling - numbers buying hits the 1228 figure his price will fall). Because the fpl site rounds the figures it displays, this is only an estimate. It could take more or less. In this case I have AE's last fall figure at around the 600 mark meaning maybe well under 1% of mangers on fpl have him.

The 9359 figure is the magic figure, that when a players transfers in - transfers out (since last price change) hits, his price will rise. For players whose price has already hit this figurea and so risen, their price will fall, when their NTO (transfers out -transfers in) is the lesser of this figure or the sum arrived at if the 10% calculation described above is used.

Thats factor 2 , other factors that affect the point for price falls/rise, is whether they are injured or not, suspended or not, just joined the player lists, or with in 7 days of any of these events. had long or short term injuries,These lead to to drops at 25% mark, price freezes for 7 days, etc. etc. etc.

Hope this makes sense. Sometime I confuse myself on this stuff.

Ok, but can you explain how come Drogba so far this gameweek, has had 18,904 transfers in and 1,160 transfers out, yet his price hasn't budged? He hasn't been suspended/injured afaik, so I struggle to see why he didn't jump. Even Diamondplus thought it was inevitable.

**Edit**

After looking at it again, his price did actually rise, but if you list the players who had a price rise, he isn't listed among them. Very strange.

Didn't his price go down, then up?

That could be it. I didn't realise it dropped since the gameweek started.

Yes. Presumably the 'Price Rise/Fall (Gameweek)' stat is not sensitive enough to log both a rise and a fall in a gameweek. Really, it is 'Overall' or 'Total Price Rise/Fall (Gameweek).

Thanks for all your work on this diamondplus.

Was thinking yesterday of Rooney to Berbatov but held off - it seems now that I have to decide before tonight's rises.

This weeks multi-dbls is causing me a real headache - but if I do the above move my strategy will be decided.

...but I'm still not sure :?

More heaps of thanks for this from me, Diamondplus. This is wizardry that's beyond me.

So Drogba is not scheduled to rise again tonight, nor Henry drop, you think.

At least that gives one more day to figure out whether to make the heartwrenching swap on the eve of the double gameweek. THAT STUPID FOOT!

i love the way dp just keeps posting the hard data like a last leg runner of a marathon relay, striving into the wind with head held high, focussed on the task at hand, as the stadium packed to the heavens thunderously cheer him on, to the rapturous modern symhponies of neil pert and crew!

thanks mate. :)

(you're not the love child of slarty, by chance? )
