Mrs Pa is an avid follower of Coronation Street and never misses an episode. It keeps her quiet for half an hour and gives me time to read the sports section of the newspapers, but with all of the hype surround the 50th Anniversary and the impending tragedy about to befall the residents of the cobbles I decided to start watching it again this week and it has been edge of the seat stuff.

A couple of things have left me puzzled all the same. Why is it that after the explosion everybody was found lying conveniently on their backs, face up in the rubble ? I suppose that it is so that they could play their part and be able to talk to the camera's, they are after all actors, but secondly, and most importantly is the mystery surrounding the train that crashed from the viaduct. The initial explosion in the Nightclub weakened the viaduct causing a little City Hopper Train to plummet onto the street and plough into "The Cabin" and the Corner Shop, all very dramatic, but whatever happened to the driver and the passengers on the train. ? Everybody and their Auntie is busy digging about in the rubble looking for survivors, but not one single person has mention getting anybody out of the train. !! I'm glad I wasn't on it.

Haven't seen last night's episode yet but on Monday it did look like the driver was passengerless in his tram.

Was laughing all through Monday's episode when they telegraphed where everyone was or was supposed to be, even those not on screen (e.g. 'Where is Graham' - 'oh, he is back in the flat').

It is called '4 funerals' - will that include the driver or random bar go-ers?

I thought that the Cabin was the corner shop :?

Not watched it for years, is it worth it?

I ploughed into Dev's corner shop and the back of the train flipped up and then landed on the Cabin (or is it 'Kabin'?) - Rita's newsagents across the road.

Was worth watching the last 2 minutes of monday's epsiode to see the wonderful low budget crash scene (actually pretty good for the non-Hollywood budget!) but the rest will probably be OTT tosh that doesn't belong in a sane soap like Corrie.

Apart from the glaring typo, thanks.

So it is Alf's old shop (not on a corner, is it?), and yes, The Kabin.

I thought Alf's shop was more of a cafe and was located in Summer Bay!

After half an hours of Tuesday's episode, I said to my missus:

Where have all the police got to then?
Where are the other Emergency Services?
Where are all the residents from surrounding streets?

I got told to stop spoiling it "I dont interrupt your Football".

Tail between my legs, I went back to the real world...Fantasy Football and Cricket

Weren't you listening  There was a RTA (Road traffic Accident) on the M62  the Emergency services were stretched to the limit :o

What I found particularly interesting was on the first part of the 50 best moments of Corrie, there was a train crash from the viaduct in 1964. It was near identical (except it was in black and white) Left me wondering if there is anything 'new' for Soap Operas to cover.

So, who are the 4 'deaths' or when they say 4 funerals will more than 1 person be buried at a time

The mad woman who is in love with John (Fizzes Fella)
Sunita Alahan
Molly Dobbs
Jason Grimshaw & Simon Barlow
Rita Fairclough
Peter Barlow, Ashley Peacock & Nick Tilsley
Fizz's Baby
Max (Steve & Becky's nephew - who they bought off Becky's sister

Probable storyline - Kevin and Sally 'adopt' Baby Jack (Kevin's son) as the child's Godparents (does anyone ever do that in real life).

Needless to say, I don't watch it

The Bookies fancy that it will be: Molly, Sunita, Janice and Norris, oddly enough the latter two seem aparrenty unscathed at the moment. I don't think that Charlotte, the mad teacher counts as John Stape had already given her the hammer over the head treatment just prior to the explosion, but I think he hides her body in the rubble to make it look as if she's a victim of the explosion.

As to baby Jack my sources (Mrs Pa) tells me that it all comes out that Kevin is the Father and when Sally finds out she gets jiggy with Tyrone (how believable is that  ). Gosh, I'm beginning to rattle on here like an old Fisherwoman. :D

My source tells me Charlotte survived the hammer attack but gets a visit from Stape in hospital

Is it right that there was a minute's silence at Old Trafford last night to commemorate the Weatherfield deaths

No but they might add a few minutes on to the next game as a mark of respect (subject to scoreline at 90 minutes).

I also wondered where everybody else was, including the emergency services. Trust me, tram and explosion with whole street on fire, you get the emergency services turning up bloody quickly no matter how busy you are
I think molly and sunita are already dead.

I was struck with the same thoughts when I watched that gert explosion at the Queen Vic recently.

Just how long does it take a fire engine to get to a blaze in East London? and why were the residence of the square cleaning up the mess the following day!? Is there not a local council? As we know there is a local council as they are seen street cleaning / market cleaning in the past - heck even some of the residence of Albert Square have been said street cleaners I believe!

Pah, soaps! Nothing but fantasy

I'm confused. I'm watching the next episode on TV3 (Irish channel). Normally they show each episode at the same time as ITV, but footys on there. So when are they showing this episode in blighty? The listings are only showing the Live episode for tomorrow night. I'm definatley watching the next episode as the emergency services are pulling people out of the rubble :?:

 Cheers Murf. Yeah listings showed it as 7pm for ITV. Didn't think of looking at the earlier listings.

I'll go back to The Champions League now, and leave Corrie to the experts.

Once again.............

the week is entitled '4 Funerals and a wedding'

We know the train driver escaped (yeah, right) and Stape's bunny boiler hasn't been seen since John did some DIY so could be 1.

Dobbs & Peacock must be odds on.

So perm 2 from bunny boiler, Sunitta (been dull since she returned), Rita, Fizz Jr, Max (outsider?), suicidal Gary (outsider?) and someone/anyone from a bit of random new excitement to liven up thursday's live show.

Lay Peter and Nick!

Yep Ashley looks a gonner, hardly think he was big enough or in a fit state to do a "Big John, Big Bad John" though, holding up that roof beam.
Should have got Rickie Hatton in as a stand in. He will probably turn up at the funeral playing his long lost brother.

Current Odds to 'Peg-It' are approximate from Oddschecker:

Ashley Peacock (I say, I say, not our Ashley) : 1/100
Molly (Its not Yours) Dobbs : 1/50
Sunita Alahan (crushed by half a ton of bricks and still breathing) : 11/10
Nick Tilsley (The third) : 6/4
Rita Sullivan (been saved by trams in the past) : 9/4
Norris Cole (Manuel's brother) : 11/2
Janice Battersby (partial to dustmen) : 11/2
Peter Barlow (The punters friend) : 6/1
Ciaran McCarthy (Boyzone Billy) : 6/1
8/1 Bar

Note Fiz is 50/1 and on the way to hospital (may be a good outsider) - Chortle.

As a Corrie watcher since the mid 70s heres my summary of who will die.

Ashley - Already a goner crushed by viaduct caving in
Molly - Another certain goner

Suspect 2 other shocks will occur tonight.

Suspect Rita will survive. Cannot see her being killed by a tram. A tram saved her in the mid 80's fron the dastardly Alan Bradley.

Have a feeling that Janice Battersby and Ciaron are 2 lively outsiders to pop their clogs tonight.

No way will Fiz die !!

I predicted that earlier as Janice is set to leave the show and I think Westzone bloke is too. 5 or 6 to 1 each. They need some new drama tonight and both are perfectly fine. Plus Dev made a big thing of thanking Ciaran when he hadn't done much...

Fizz's baby and Stape's bunny boiler could also be candidates for the two remaining caskets.
