Oxygen is half your weight; and the 21% of the atmosphere is a fragile balance, between us not being able to breathe, and mass incineration

James Martin is one cook i can't stand, why does he think cooking is so macho? Before I go much further and get accused of being a closet cookery fan let me state now this is the impression I get from channel hopping on a Saturday morning while Soccer am is on an ad break.
He is also a car freak, but at this least suits his image much better than getting all 'alpha male' while frying a salmon fillet.
The insult k**bh**d will never find a more suitable target.

On the subject of James Martin I recall watching a doc about him participating in the Mille Miglia in his restored 1948 Maserati, I think it has cost him something like £800,000. After laying a wager and boasting how quick his car was it broke down before the end leaving poor Martin in tears. Laugh? I almost fried a salmon fillet.

I'd expect the cost of making a cookery program is very small compared to a drama series or importing a comedy from the US etc.

Maybe this is why we have so many.

PS - Love Saturday kitchen and think James Martin is fine. Never noticed him say cooking is macho however. It's neither macho nor girly is it :?

Probably not just Martin, he tries to underplay it more than say Gardon Ramsey but most male chefs quite like the macho image of a man wanting to get sweating behind the hot stove. The term I believe is 'the gastrosexual', guys using their culinary skills to impress their friends and potential love interests .
The thought of measuring grams and ounces and making cakes doesn’t really enter their mind.
The reason why when it comes to making desserts, male chefs are not that good.

BBC1 tonight

7.30 to 8.00 Cookery by some dullard with glasses

8.30 to 9.00 Masterchef with Aussie and Baldy. "ooooh, look at the texture of my lemon sorbet".

Aaaaaaaaarrrrggggghhhhhh

It's no wonder we're al bleedin fat

Please BBC, axe all these programmes when you think of the cutbacks. Either that or stick em on during the day time when I'm at work. Muchos gracios :)
