I am currently writing this on a I pad as my computer seems to be infected with a virus.

Every time I try to access the net, a message reads security alert, 31 infections found,
Upgrade to to a full version of vista security 2012.
I have paid for a 3 year subscription to Mcafee but this virus appears to be blocking this.
Every time I click on this security alert, it directs me to a update site, asking me to pay in US dollars for a 1,2 or 3 year subscription.
Any solutions please.

I'll shift this to the computer forum once you've successfully downloaded and run the above software

Whatever you do, if you haven't done it before, don't muck around with the registry, much harder to fix and likely to cost money!

This :)

The best thing to do is. Download malwarebytes to another comp. (Does your iPad let you do this?) Then transfer the install file to a USB drive. Disconnect your internet. Launch the infected computer in "safe mode" plug in the USB, install then run malwarebytes.

As above, if the ipad isn't up to it, reboot the PC into "safe mode with networking" by tapping F8 (usually) when rebooting to give you the options screen, download, install run.

If this fails then do you have access to another PC/ laptop to download to and copy to a USB for installation?

If not let me know your email (either by pm or send to my email shown at the bottom of my post) and I can send you the installation file attached.

The download is often out of date and if unable to connect to the net on the infected machine download mban-rules.exe from the site via the ipad which autoupdates to that latest definition when run on infected machine

This is the virus, I am currently at work but am confused by Vids comment above, what should I do?

bloggie's link includes instructions on how to edit the registry, best to try malwarebytes before doing that, make a mistake and you could take out something that can't be easily fixed.

Try the malwarebytes removal first as there's no danger. The solution above is more advanced and you should only give it a go as a last resort.

I had this problem on both home and work pc.
It sounds like a trojan virus has hijacked the browser, its an attempt to get you to purchase software which wont actually remove the problem.
As you can not access the web, what I can do is find a spyware/malware remover, its easy to find a temporary program to get rid of it. I will put it on a usb stick and as I am off work Friday I can drop it round.
I am pretty sure its something that has slipped under your anti virus software, it may need updating, should be done every couple of weeks.

Always easier to do "hands on" rather than by instruction. Glad it's sorted. Keep a decent anti-malware program on the PC and run it every couple of weeks.

The most staggering thing about this thread isn't the fact that there are 2 FISO-ers living close to each other, it's the fact that 2 FISO-ers living close to each other actually know each other. I'm not sure any fully-paid-up FISO member would recognise me if I passed them in the street/pub/office etc.

Wouldn't you be the one running away from monsters while accompanied by a man sized dog on it's hind legs?

Wouldn't he have the man sized beast on his back as if shagging him?

Scooby was written by some serious sexual deviants, with 2 of the women being "at it", actually being quite tame - and as if the pretty boy was straight

Lol, wasn't it written in the 60's? That probably explains it... Just look at their vehicle
