The characters were shallow, unimaginative & in many cases quite offensive from a racial stereotype perspective. Did the makers of this show really not get that the 'fly on the wall' documentaries they were sending up are in reality comedies themselves :?: :? ...

That's one thing I don't get. When the film White Chicks came out no one batted an eyelid. So Matt Lucas blacks his face and its offensive. I actually think this is one of the better characters. It's either all offensive - so ban the lot, or not at all - so allow everything.

It's this type of over sensitive reaction which, for instance, has led to the Canadians (who I generally think are bang on) banning Money For Nothing because it contains the "f" word.

To be fair, it was the characters being shallow & unimaginative that offended me personally rather than the racial stereotypes  .

I agree that 'White Chicks' is no more or less offensive than 'Come Fly With Me' however there is a major difference between the two i.e one of them was being shown on xmas day in a prime time slot & the other wasn't. I find it very strange indeed that the money men @ the beeb signed off on this series considering they were supposed to be taking the moral high ground comedy-wise following the 'Sachsgate' incident...

My lad loved it as did his mates. Harmless fun. Some of it was too predictable but heh ho. We can all get high brow and say it's not this and it's not that, but at the end of the day it isn't trying to be clever.

It's not funny and it's not worth watching.

Would never have been commissioned for 1 series even if it was by anybody else.

Fairly cheap to make I guess, aside from the two salaries. The three catchphrases quoted above sum it up really. I think as touched on before that pre-Little Britain this would have been funnier but we're too used to the idea of the same characters who say little else of humour other than their catchphrases. Gave it a couple of episodes but nothing seemed to happen and waiting 20 minutes for a character to say "praise the lord" didn't seem like a good use of my time.

Miranda is hilarious! As for Come Fly, they introduced a few new characters in the last episode and I am pleased it has got a second series. Can't imagine it being too cheap to make though, but it will keep the BBC make-up artists busy.

I would rather watch the Dad's Army repeats.

I had this on in the background as I was working the other night. I didn't realise it was this at first, I just heard some desperate programme on in the background annoying me :D

I can normally block it all out, but this made me turn around thinking "What the HELL is this shite"

Turns out it was Come Fly With Me

Very happy they got another series, richly deserved.

As with many such series based on running jokes around the same characters, it improved with watching (we enjoyed the last episode best of all) - so I'm not surprised that having it on in the background did nothing for MM.

Like others have said, if it had not been following a huge success like Little Britain, it would have been even better received.

Yep, can't argue with that. Progs like this do need to be given time. It's just that first impressions were terrible. If it keeps getting good reviews i'll no doubt catch up with it for another chance

It took a while for me to start enjoying it and without the joy of Sky+ I would probably not have bothered. First episode on Christmas day got over 12 million viewers - which is hardly a surprise - final episode was down to 3 million. I reckon it is probably more to do with it being those two rather than the success of the show why they got a second series.
