I haven't watched much of Villa but McLeish seems to always play at least one defensively minded midfielder so just Petrov-Ireland doesn't seem likely (to me). I think until recently Herd looked to be doing alright at DMC but got injured, then Clark got the place for a while but against Wolves he was moved to left back and the 19 yr old Gardner got a chance in that position.
I'd take it as a positive sign that even though Clark did badly at LB against Kightly, he didn't get subbed at half time when Warnock came in, he just went back into midfield. But there is still the question of why McLeish experimented with him in the first place. And it does seem he now has a bit of a selection headache in attack.

7 games (inc 1 FA cup)
2 assists, 1 goal, 2 clean sheets and in fpl 2 bps

not too bad for 4.7mil, just need assurances he will keep his spot
