I notice the Championship game doesn't get much discussion although I'm really enjoying it (i.e. doing better than I usually do in the main TFF game!). Before I go on I'd like to thank Bram for setting up the Championship fixture grid on his site. Believe me mate it is appreciated.

Anyway, I'm guessing most people doing well have got a fairly settled team based on cheap defenders and stud attackers, and the teams at the top look pretty much the same. Doyle, Ebanks-Blake, Kightly, Hunt and 7 others. Once you get the right formula it's a game that doesn't seem to need many transfers... until now maybe?

Reading play on Friday and that opens up a 3 for 1 with most teams, and a 4 for 1 with some if you can predict who will win their cup game.

Swansea, Sheff Utd, Brum and Palace are the teams I'm thinking might be worth looking at. Anyone got any thoughts who to go for? Or are we all saving all our transfers for the play-offs ;-)

Good post.

For Loons like me without Kightly, it is a simple S Hunt  Kightly, and hope they beat Brum in the cup.

Swansea, Sheff Utd, Brum and Palace are teams ... worth looking at.

Weather is disrupting potential 4 for 1 transfer options in TFF Championship competition:
Palace (at Plymouth), Birmingham (at Blackpool) & Doncaster vs Bristol C are among games postponed this Sat pm.

2 assists for Kightly - looking like a good 4-1 so far... :D

Nice one. I already had Kightly and didn't realise he got the assists tonight. I didn't do too well tonight with the 4-1 because Jason Scotland didn't play, but he did alright for me on Saturday so can't be too unhappy :)

Another potential 4 for 1 (or 3 for 1 at worst) is Doncaster over any championship side not still in the cup starting next Tuesday with their home replay. I know, not the most attractive proposition (and almost certainly not for defenders), but if you've hugged the tortoise ...

Cheltenham (h)
Aston Villa (h) if they win the first
Sheff Utd (a)
Norwich (h)

I'm not sure about the Championship game getting interesting but the FA Cup certainly is. :D
Thanks for the info on the 3/4 for 1 Bram.. not sure who to rely on from Donny though really.. I'm 4000th with 18 transfers so a bit useless now but will give it a fair crack anyhow. :D

Would be interested if anyone knows why Jason Scotland hasn't been given an assist for the first goal at Pompey.

From the BBC:
Nathan Dyer fires in a goal from the edge of the penalty area to the bottom right corner of the goal. Portsmouth 0-1 Swansea.Assist by Jason Scotland.

It's important to me as I'm in the top 20 and I need every point I can get.

Nope, I can't see a reason. You can view the goal on itv.com (athough the quality isn't brilliant) but unless the commentator got it wrong they've given the assist to the wrong guy. There won't be an assist for the other goal as it was a penalty, so it must just be a mix-up.

Thanks for checking Bram. I've emailed them.

ps shame about your Palace block lately - ouch. (Sadly I'm not completely immune)

Fair play to them... I got this reply:

Thanks for getting in touch. The assist was originally awarded to the wrong player. We have now amended our records.

Scotland already has the extra 3 points. Can't ask for much more.

Well done, DS, if this is your team in the overall top twenty:
16 Regular Joes, Mr Darren Storey, 994

Two Qs:
- do you think you might make up 75 points on the leader?
- are you in a separate super league?

A 994 score would be placed second of 120+ teams in the FISO Championship SL; front-runner is:
11 Calne raiders, Mr Philip Owen, 1014

Thanks Sam, yes 'tis me. To answer your questions:
1) I'm optimistic I at least have a chance to make up the ground with over half my transfers left. I'm trying to work out my best strategy from here in. Obviously the nearer you get to contention the less wise it is will be for me to discuss my team in great detail on here but any advice on players to consider would be welcome as I don't get to see much Championship football.
2) Yes I'm in the Betfair forum league and am running away with that but I don't think many of them are still playing! I'll join the FISO one next time I think.

Just a shame there are so few prizes for this game. I can't even win a football because I'm in the Man City fans league. Although I'm over 50 points ahead in that only Championship teams fans get the footballs. Seems a bit stingy to me but I expect I'll get over it.

I'm down in 393rd place in this game, but with 25 transfers left.

My defence has let me down in recent weeks, otherwise I might still be competitive.

The problem is that there are too many must have players in midfield and attack, making it difficult to pick up points on the leaders.

I've got the usual suspects, SEB, Iweluma and Doyle up front, with S Hunt and Kightly in midfield. I can't see how I can shuffle the others around and improve the team though. Maybe a couple leaving in the transfer window might open things up a bit?
Wigan have put in a bid for Hunt I believe?

My best bet may be to find an unlikely block defence that hits a good run. Not easy in the Championship though.

Getting very interesting for me now. 8 points off the overall lead after tonight's update.

Any other FISO-ers in the mix for the prizes?

Thought I might be in line for a football, until I read this thread. Top of the Bradford Championship SL. :(

Seems to be a mistake on the scores update. Stephen Hunt hasn't been credited with the assist for Reading's first goal at Blackpool, although it was a header straight from his corner. The BBC match report gives him the assist, and you can see from the footage (on virginmedia.com) that there is no doubt it is an assist. I've emailed them.

Very very tight at the top now. I've finally caught the long-time leader but unfortunately two others have caught me and the rest of the pack is closing. Surely everyone can't have a bleedin' Sheff Utd block defence, Gomez, Scotland and McCormack, but it seems everyone has!

That's me up to 9th now Darren! 8pts off a top 6 finish, hoping for some results this weekend which will more or less finish off the other automatic promotion so I can make my move!
