Hello, Currently hating the new MW3 game.......

Mainly cos I am doing poop. I usually take time to get used to the new games and usually end up being a pretty average to good player.

Things I am not getting:

Shooting/Weapon:
I find that as a soon as I see someone thats it I am dead straight, within 0.1 of a second they kill me.
Whereas when I shoot at someone it seems to take forever to kill them even though all the bullets are hitting them (I am not shooting at their legs). I am currently using the Scar-L, I always play with an Assault Rifle, thats all I ever do so I need a good one, I have only unlocked 4 of them at the moment,

Which is the best Assault Rifle?

Stun Grenades:
I usually go mental with stun grenades, throwing them everywhere and anywhere. But I am finding they have barely any affect on the opponent. In Black Ops if u got stunned u would not be able to do anything, see anything and u would end up being shot. Whereas in MW3 I have been throwing them at people and thinking thats it I have got them!!, just need to finish them off, but no they shoot me just as easily as they could without being stunned.

Whats more effective the concussion or flash grenade?

Grenades:
Again these seem to have little effect, I throw them right next to people and they only get slightly injured.

Have they made grenades less effective than Black Ops or is it just me?

PS Have you seen those guys that go round with a shield and a Juggernaut suit, bloomin numpties. Impossible to kill!!!!

Also: I do like the fact u get a kill from 2 assists and that killstreak kills count towards other killstreaks.

Not all of us. :)

I'm still on the "old" Black Ops game with only one new map pack as I can't be arsed upgrading a perfectly decent game. I've not heard much good stuff about MW3 in that it's not really a jump from the previous 2. I like the idea about KS kills counting towards KSs but it would always help other people more than me!

Its more hectic than black ops, there seems to constantly be several killstreaks going on at the same time throughout the game. you'll have someone with an Osprey in the air and someone with a remote controlled helicopter, and your be getting Emp'd all at the same time, I think its overkill.

I also find it pretty hard to see anyone on the other team, people seem to blend in more probably cos of the more detailed and darker maps. You just get shot out of the blue.

I'm an enthusiast! Only just getting into it (level 21), have been playing online since MW1 and must say that the current version is my favourite yet. Love it

My wife's the same. She isn't any good if she ever tries as she's not used to all of the gaming tropes (shining boxes/doors for interaction or basic design clues that are common across games) and she's more than happy not to have that info in her head. On the flip side I was playing Assassin's Creed last night and my eldest sat down watching me for the first time and immediately knew the basics of what I was doing and could point things I missed.

I guess it's like any hobby be it trainspotting or free-running; they attract different people.

On a weird tangent I thought the other day how nice it would be if I wasn't so easily distracted by games. I wonder what I would be capable of if my hobby wasn't so easy to do (either on my phone or on the telly). If I was into hand-gliding or mountain-climbing I'd have so much more time, relatively, to do things like DIY or cleaning the house!

I remember around 1998 or thereabouts I had a Playstation 1, and round about 2003 the first Call of Duty Game came on the market and I played it for hours on end. I lost interest soon after that and I was wondering if there is some form of Call of Duty I could download and play on my desktop ?

Im on Xbox,

The only games I have ever had for the past 5 years are the COD games, if it wasnt for this game and the online aspect I would not be interested in computer games.

I don't like it yet, you have to get to know the maps which takes a lot of time, especially these ones as they seem to be more complex than Black Ops maps (maybe thats just how they seem as I don't know all the routes).

Once I am used to the guns and maps and best set-up then I should be ok, for now I get shot to pieces.

Only just seen this thread!

There is a lag problem which can mean you pretty much get killed before you even see the opposition.. that will be even worse if your using an assult rifle against a smg (or some quickscoping numpty)

The type95 is by far the best assult rifle.. one burst from distance if on target and only needs two bullets to connect up close.. by far the best gun in the game at the moment...

The ACR is good too as in MW2

Flash. if you get hit by one you cant see anything!!

I think your right.. hard to get a granade kill. I think alot of people are using the perk that makes granades less effective. I use claymores, there still great unless someone has stalker pro on

I mainly use:

Small Maps:

UMP with extended mags and less recoil

akimbo scorpions as backup

claymores

flashgranades

Perks - Slight of hand pro, Hardline pro, Steady Aim Pro

Killstreaks - assault - predator --> Reaper --> AC130 (still a beast)

Lareg maps

Type95 with rapid fire and red dot sight

akimbo scorpions

claymores

flash

Perks Slight of hand, harlding and stalker

Killstreaks - assault - predator --> Reaper --> AC130

Enjoying the game now, quickscoping is annoying me and the maps are pretty poor.. to start with i didnt enjoy any of the maps but im likeing about half of them now.. looking forward to the map packs with old maps though!

Also agree that juggernauts are a pain in the arse.. might actually set up a jugger killing class with rpgs granade launchers etc..

my k/ds only 1.15 atm which im a bit dissapointed with but im improving for sure!

seems like everytime I turn my x-box on lately that there is an update it needs to do. I read somewhere that they had been getting complaints about certain guns being overpowered and amongst other things these guns were to adjust the strength of certain guns?

I agree that the grenades are definately harder to kill with, but this can surely only be a good thing. I used to hate going into maps only to find half the players were lobbing and shooting nades all over the place.

Not tried the type-95 yet, but it is next on my list.

All in all i wasn't that impressed with BlackOps and ended up not playing it in the end, but I am loving MW3.

Never played COD but am tempted to get a game like this for the PS3. Which COD would be the best for a newbie?

Ha! I'm still on 0.99 because I'd never played one before B/O so my arse was constantly kicked for ages before I got to grips. And man is it hard to make back lost ground!

Yeah i hered they upped the strength of the spas as it was wink to start with

@ Suprised, none of the games are for noobs but then everyone starts out as one.. get MW3 if its your sort of game and just be prepared to get battered to start with.. youll get better in time as you learn what guns are suited to your playing style and as you learn the map layouts...

Just make sure this is your sort of game.. fast paced and full on.. i play pretty much nothing else bar the odd game of fifa :)

this is the first vid i clicked on as an example of the game play, not even watched it

i have to have the perk which makes u hidden to aircraft, not sure why a lot of ppl dont use that perk as i get absolutely smashed to pieces without it as there is always some enemy aircraft overhead, there is nothing more frustrating than being shot by a helicopter/airplane to spawn again - instantly getting killed over and over again.

dunno why I never thought of doing things that way...after 5 years of playing COD online I think I finally need to create some classes, I only ever use one and thats an Assault rifle and Launcher (having a launcher is obviously a disadvantage seeing as it helps the team - not the individual) I must be a team player 8-)

:/ you need different classes for different game modes and maps.. stringer take down an attack heli in one shot a anti air class always helps...

especially as taking down a heli counts on your point streak ;)
