The mrs and I are discussing our choice of comedy viewing on the box tonight. I was watching Bottom and sniggering, and she is now giggling at The Royle Family.

What's best?

(btw, she thinks its stupid me asking your opinion, as you are "a bunch of bloke's who play football that doesnt exist") and as blokes will prefer fart gags to the other options like subtlety.

Royle Family is much funnier than Bottom

Couple of great US comedies on Sky 1 on a Friday night which I'd watch ahead of both. Modern Family - has more laugh out loud moments than any sitcom I can remember & Raising Hope - heavily influenced by My Name is Earl. I'd thoroughly recommend both

Tricky question. Both were brilliant at their best but probably The Royle Family just... on a good night.

One's a vulgar imitation of The Young Ones. The other has its moments though wouldn't go out of my way to watch it.
Plus
Monty python v only fools and horses MP
the inbetweeners v the i.t crowd ITC
Simpson's v family guy FG
Frasier v friends Used to watch Friends but soon enough it got repetitive and banal.Watch Frazier when there's nothing else on so definitely siding with that though for someone hopeless at dating he does seem to have a phenomenal amount of dates.
red dwarf v men behaving badly RD easily.
Shameless v One Foot in the Grave. OFINTG easily.
Steptoe and Son v The Likely Lads SaS.
Rising Damp v On The Buses RD.
Never Mind The Buzzcocks v Have I got news for you NMTB
Mock the week v Would I lie to you MTW
Argumental v Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive A

Don't like Modern Family and The Middle.Like King of Queens.Don't like those 'comedy' programs on that new channel Sony TV(Sky 157).

two different comedy types. the royle family had a bit of drama too - whilst bottom was more sick slapstick

bottom is my personal winner by a country mile

Shameless & Modern Family are both excellent. The US version of Shameless has just finished season one - that is also really good

Grange Hill or Byker Grove? (lets be honest, there can only be one winner of that one).

It's a knockout or We are the Champions?
