we all know bonus points can give a boost after a disappointing day in the office but after just checking the ones from the sunderland game, i'm ready to puke with the injustice of it.

IHMO jones, edwards & leadbitter were the 3 best on the pitch and if i was to pick the newcastle player that impressed me most it would have been smith who stifled sunderland for good periods playing as a defensive midfielder.

the result? 3 to higgintbottom who did nothing but score, 2 viduka who did nothing at all and 1 to milner who did nothing but score.

what a load of cock

exactly, he was mine too, held up every ball thrown up to him, linked well with all around him and caused plenty of problems for the newscatle defence, as he does every week and he has only gotten a measly 4 points all season. i know the bonus points are picked by some random journo but i would of thought that they needed to know SOMETHING about footy before being appointed to the task

jones wasn't just my motm, he was the official motm. you'd think that would count for something when dishing out the boni

is there no way we can appeal this bullshit? not even the most ardent geordie will tell you that viduka was the 2nd best player on the pitch yesterday, or that jones/leadbitter did not make the top three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe Edwards did get the 1 point not Milner, but anyway I have checked the official rules and it seems to bonus points now work as follows:

3 - scoring out of the blue what should have been the winner.
2 - for surviving so long on the field while being unfit and overweight.
1 - consolation for being better than the above two on the day.

Hmm. Under that system they'd have had to award a point to a lot of players :)

Wasn't Jones robbed of deserved boni in the West Ham game a few weeks ago too?

jones was certainly robbed of a bonus point at that game. as a matter of fact i have seen the majority of sunderlands games this year, and the fact that jones has only received 4 points is a disgrace. i was having a bad day at the office, but this bonus point bullshit is actually making me want to stop playing this stupid game.

I have Jones but subjectively he was excellent yesterday, he was dangerous on and off the ball, stuck his neck out to defend, got into some good positions, and, er, was the man of the match...
