Yes - I also thought the sending off was Ironic. Presume this will be a 3 match ban. which might cause a few problems for some people. (though I did bring Gerrard in a few weeks back in my top Telegraph team.)

Shame to still be going on about this but they are taking the piss on their Facebook page

'There was never a game-week scheduled to start yesterday due to FA Cup games. The game was included in this game-week because of how late the announcement came of when the game would be re-scheduled to'

As quizking has pointed out - the Blackpool/Liverpool game was rearranged as soon as it was called off

I have experienced a fair bit of incompetence from fantasy football organisers over the last few years but this lot are proper jokers

Hi again andy - yes, i brought it up again on facebook; people keep asking about the missing gameweek, and metro keep replying, but their version of events needed to be challenged. I think all the relevant points and links are on the facebook site now. Whether metro/gfm choose to ignore them is another matter. I also posted a link to the gambling commission site, for anyone else who wants to challenge the decisions via another channel.

I'm not in Facebook so thanks to those who mentioned this fiasco on here. I would have been happily transferring in Blackpool and Liverpool players on Sat morning only to have a nasty shock on Wednesday when I didn't get any points. Also believing I would be getting another free transfer for the week after.

Quote:
"Hi Steve - The stats provided by FSB do not influence game structure. We ran a different game structure for the World Cup game which was also powered by FSB points. The issue is how late the notice was given that the game was moving to that... date. There was not enough time to re-structure the data grouping around fixtures and once a game-week has started we cannot take fixtures out or start a new game-week as the transfers that people have already made would become corrupted. In some weeks there are teams playing two games and in other weeks this is balanced out by the same teams not playing. This balances out over the course of the season and the -25 point penalty is there to make sure these weeks are not abused by players. We hope this clears up why the decision was taken."

It also annoys me when they post various reasons for their actions which just don't hold up as either true or sensible. The e-mail I received back didn't give any valid reason for their actions and just compounds the annoyance and my thoughts on their ineptitude and lack of understanding.

There wasn't enough time to take out fixtures or re-group the gameweeks but they managed to add a fixture in after the gameweek started!!

Their point on balancing itself out is only applicable if there were no transfers in the game and so you would get an equal number of games.

It is unbelievable the number of organisers of FF games who make a cock up of it. All they have to do is stick to their own rules which they set. Even if the rules are naff just stick to them, then no-one can complain they've been treated unfairly.

I didn't even realise that Bale had been re-classsified, why would they do that? What possible benefit to the game is there for doing it, just leave it be.

At last, some movement from metro (unfortunately, again via facebook, which disenfranchises those not on it)

"Hi - We are going to publish the dates that game-weeks begin so there is no chance of any misinterpretation what games are covered in each week."

If they had done that at the start of the game (as the fpl game does), things would have been a lot clearer. Not that i'm in favour of this rigid "gameweek" structure anyway, but it's a start.

Muddy - re your point about reclassification of players; yes it seems a bit daft, but at least they flagged up in the rules that players might be reclassified, dependant upon OPTA positional data - end of section 4 in the t and c's.

Edit - just been back to the terms page - and noticed that at the bottom, it currently says last updated December 20th, 2010. Can't immediately see what they changed then - might be something to do with prize pool terms for the pay-to-play section of the game, which i haven't been involved with - but worth keeping an eye on.

I gave up on the Metro game a long time ago(when it was run by SM) but you guys might find it worthwhile keeping your eye on the rearranged Everton v Birmingham game now scheduled for Wednesday 23 Feb,which FPL have just added to GW27 which was to have ended on Tuesday 22 Feb.

If Birmingham knock out WHM to reach the Carling Cup final, then this rearranged game at Everton will move to March 9th,and Birmingham's game at Chelsea on Sat 26th Feb will be postponed.

As things stand at present,in FPL Birmingham have a triple GW27 ! come on WHM !

Can I bring DJ Campbell in before Saturday to get those points?

Its also showing my captaincy score in green for GW22 - would it usually do that? Even if I change the captain it doesn't move in the score history.

Is the system trying to see this as a seperate GW?

That would be funny considering the lengths they went to to cover their own tracks.

I had Gerrard as captain in 2 teams but strangely am pleased I gained no advantage. Even though I have had teams consistently in the top 500 I've never taken this game seriously, TBH I use it as a platform for the rest of my Saturday thinking/tinkering.

Strangely I have changed position though. My top team has dropped 15 places :?

Really disappointing episode from this game. I'm only playing for fun but with 4 of my teams in the top 1k and 2 of them in the top 300 I really wanted to see how well I could do.

Adam sitting on the bench for a DGW when I clearly would have captained him doesn't help me at all.

Well somehow I've managed to get a team into the top 40 and another at 200.

But now both teams have wasted transfers getting Blackpool and Liverpool players in, but are sitting on the bench. Will take two mre transfers to get rid of them again, just to get back to where I was. This will seriously affect my chances of winning.

Should check out the Metro Fantasy Football page on Facebook - some of the guys there are threatening legal action!

Just read the facebook page. Frustrating seeing them trot out the same standard (incorrect) answer each time.

Not 100% absolutely certain, but near enough 99.9% certain - that there may be a connection between that someone on facebook threatening legal action against metro accusing the game organisers of cheating - and the person and /or persons who were stopped from winning the metro game a couple of years ago, and hence £15k or whatever it was then (when it was run by silentmanager) because of, er, cheating.

07/08 season - a quick search through fiso archives (they haven't been deleted that far back) - yep, same name, a mr sambrook from stockport, apparently - ring any bells anyone?

the-kop-guide-to-winning-metro-and-virginmedia-ff-t42012.html

Think i got a monthly prize from this one, which is why i remembered the competiton, but wasn't involved in going for the overall prize; unlike several other fiso members - once it had been determined that all the members of superleague "the kop" had broken rules by being the same person/making transfers at the same time/had same isp/same family surname/were all in stockport. Still, maybe it's a coincidence. Which would indeed be very ironic.

Yes,I remember it well without going back to the old threads - exposed thanks to some excellent detective work by erstwhile Fisoer Slarty iirc

That is quite funny that Sambrook is threatening legal action - I remember the name . I chaired the FISO league that benefited from his disqualification

What I don't find funny is that the idiot representing The Metro on their Facebook page has been deleting my posts . I have posted 3 or 4 times and only 1 is left

My mate cant make any transfers at the Mo and this was the response :?

Hi

The rescheduled Blackpool v Liverpool game that was played on Wednesday 12th January scored points in the current game week, which is week 21. The next game week will start scoring points from midday on Saturday 15th January. Any changes that had been made to your team since midday on Saturday 1st January will not become effective until midday on Saturday 15th January, there was no free transfer available from midday on Saturday 8th January, the next free transfer will be available from midday on Saturday 15th January.

The Blackpool v Liverpool fixture was originally meant to be played on December 26th. The re-arranged fixture date was only made public late at the end of December and took place in a week which would originally have been a non-scoring week as FA Cup fixtures don’t count for scoring purposes in Metro Fantasy Football. This left us little option but to include the fixture in the existing game week, not a new game week. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and any future re-arranged fixtures falling in non-scoring weeks will be publicised as soon as possible.

The dates of the game weeks can now be found ‘View Game Week Dates’ option on the My Team page::

http://fantasyfootball.metro.co.uk/gameweeks

Kind regards

Ian

So they can't even take -25 points hits?

Jeez they've screwed this up... all with the aim of doing the wrong thing.
