Ive had such a bad FF start that im thinking of a week away in Cyprus - can anyone recommend good sites for late deals - admittedly im looking at Sept 19/20/21 for a week

I use Travelzoo a lot - I find that is good for late deals. Can't always guarentee you can go to Cyprus, you just get a list of available destinations and dates.
