I'm interested to see what the general opinion seems to be on the best midfield enabler(s) that are around.

Given that there are only two weeks left to wildcard, this is the perfect time to change enablers as these are the sort of transfers that you don't want to make.

Please vote for TWO options and consider the price when doing so. Given that this player is likely to be a bench player for most of the run in and would probably only be chosen a couple of times from the remaining 16 gameweeks. So playing time is essential. Flavour of the month picks that are likely to drop in price after they get dropped like Albrighton last week have been left out.

I've taken the top scoring player under £5m from each side. I've left Gomez out for Wigan, but if you feel he's the best bet then vote other.

Is there an element of conditionality involved in this choice... e.g., if you already have Sessegnon or Larsson, how does that influence whether or not you choose McClean? Or similarly, Sinclair/Dyer, maybe? I'm not sure about this, or whether it even matters at all!

I would imagine that would influence, but this poll is a straight up for the money... if the player is sitting on the bench 10-16/16 gameweeks who is the best choice.

There is a second condition. What the player is ACTUALLY worth. I've had Dyer since he was 4.5, so is only worth 4.6 to me.

The only reason I didn't sign McLean last week on WC was that he could just be flavour of the month. Dyer has played every week he's been fit for the whole season. McLean might be more injury prone, Sunderland might make some signings, he could be rotated. Too much risk when the presiding factor should be the 2 points guaranteed every week.

Sunderland's fixtures must be better than Swansea's over the short term though. Swansea's are dreadful.

In order of preference:
Moses - nailed on starter
Dyer - Does more than Moses when he starts but does get rotated
Johnson - Like Dyer
McLean - O'Neill has a habit of throwing young players in there, they do well then he signs a plodder on the last day of the window to replace them
Lowe - a plodder
Reo Coker, Henry, Tiote - card magnets

Other - nothing leaps out that's got the potential to beat what's above.

Yup, moses edges it for me once his fixtures get good. I'll probably get in none though.

I was considering Buz. Will he be benched/rotated when the African Cup of Nations players come back?

Well. yeah, he's likely to be keeping Taarabt's place warm but you can have lots of fun with him until then. Just monitor any new signings that could pose a threat to his position. They seem to be mainly interesting in strengthening their defence at the moment.

Oh right. I don't have a midfield enabler unless a non-playing one counts i.e. Ferguson but I'm planning on getting Robbie Keane as my striker enabler.

For me, McClean is the best option if he's going to be benched more often than not. He's got the potential to add useful points if required now O'Neill has turned it around for them and doesn't tie up to much money for a bench player. If price doesn't come into it then Dyer has got more of a track record in that he starts most games, although there is a risk that could change as Joe Allen and himself could be competing for maybe one place now that Sigurdsson looks a certain fixture in the side. Sigurdsson at 5.0 is better than both but probably not bench material and also just out of the price range you stipulated. Swansea's tougher fixtures must also be taken into account when deciding.

Yeah, he counts. The cheaper the player, the more it enables you to spend cash on your first XI. And there's nowt cheaper than non-starters like Ferguson and De Laet. Having 15 proper players is for cowards.

Under normal circumstances I would agree with #1 Dyer and #2 McLean but right now I think the strongest option is to play a 5 man midfield of Silva, Bale, Valencia, Dempsey and Sessegnon with two up front dropping someone like Fletcher, Morrison or Holt to the bench.

McClean . O'Neill barely rotates his teams at all and we've already seen Dyer is droppable by Rogers. Add to that McClean is cheaper, doesn't get subbed as much, plays in a team on the up under O'Neill, great PPG etc. Dyer owners are in for a few frustrating 1pters if they start him (got burned myself this season), when he is subbed at HT or rotated out for Routledge again.

McClean's epic. I brought him in with my WC and was worried about having him and Sessegnon but he's such great value (both of them are) that it's a no brainer. Look at his minutes and points since O'Neill came in (and he got a goal and assist in an FA cup game) and tell me that 4.5 isn't an absolute steal in a side that's scoring goals

I just bought Surman, think he's a solid bench player to have and it's gonna allow me some promising upgrading in the next couple of weeks.

I now have 3 midfielders valued under 5m.

I'm in the same position, thanks for bumping this. It's probably Bale to Moses or Surman this week so get the cash to upgrade Graham.
