I'm a first time FPL player. Playing the game with mates, so finding this site was a goldmine (thanks guys!). All i can go on is the information i've gained from the net. Just wondering everyone's opinions on the best available forward cheapy, and why, factoring in price also.

Forssell (5), Earnshaw (5.5), Chopra (5.5), Other?

I've voted for Forssell. This is a bit more of a gamble than Earnshaw or Chopra as they are likely to be definite starters.

However while a bit more of a gamble, I'm thinking that Forssell might be the best option. He has played in the prem before, and done very well when fit. He appears to have gotten over his injuries at the moment and is in fantastic preseason form. With the falling through of the Mido move, the chances of him starting increase a bit. He is .5 cheaper which is a nice saving.

Forsell only starting 3 league games last season, and 10 the season before that. That said, this is FPL so you don't have to worry about transfering him out I guess.

When Forssell is fit he's a class player. So long as you don't leave yourself needing 3 subs for GW2 I think he's the best option for the bench. Put the extra 0.5 on an attacking 4.5 defender (Jaidi v DC GW2?) for the pine, so that you have a defender as your 'best' substitute (bearing in mind the 'Min 3 Defs' rule this is wisest).

Forssell is the cheapest, saving a valuable 0.5 - especially when he's just bench fodder. He's firing on all cylinders pre-season (knocking in 4) and Steve Bruce has been quoted as saying he's in with a chance of a starting place for the opening fixtures. Play him while he's fit. The clock is ticking on his knees ... fragile Forssell  . He's also 3rd in the established pecking order. Jerome is also worth considering at 5.5.

"Chopra has championship written all over him" ... in the words of another FISOer. Many are doubting if he'll make the step up. Currently Sunderland's only dedicated striker - however Keane is chasing both Mido and Andy Cole. SU are expected to fare better than the other promoted clubs so this plays in his favour.

Earnshaw has a great shout of a regular start paired with Howard. Little and Large combination, Earnie has a proven goal record and pace. The question mark then lies with how many do you expect Derby to score. Not many is the answer. Rumours are that he'll retain penalty duties and he is my 3rd place striker based on this distinction.

Based on what I've seen so far with him at Sunderland - don't pick Chopra.

I considered Vaz Te for my bench too he's been knocking them in pre-season... however I've gone for Forsell, mainly as he's 0.5 less (and I needed that 0.5!) but also GW2, when I may well need a sub Birmingham are at home to Sunderland which is more appealing than Bolton away to Fulham.
