On vd Vaart at the moment - home against Wigan could be a cricket score.

Rooney / Valencia for VC, will probably flip a coin.

Defoe could well make the starting 11 v Wigan after his recent form plus his 5 goal haul against them a couple of years ago (a memorable occasions as I had just transferred him out of my squad earlier that day), so VDV and Ade not safe to start and very high risk of only completing 60 min.

I'm on Bale at the moment. RvP will always be at the back of my mind. Especially after I stuck to the Xth commandment and captained him over Walter last week. Best decision of the week (counter balanced by choosing Torres/Walters over Helguson/Dempsey who were in my WC team earlier in the week).

Please bear in mind that this poll is asking who will get the most points not who your captain is gonna be.

Naming a thread 'Best captain choice in GW23'........... and then complaining when people start naming players who they think will be the best captain choice....

They arent though. They are saying who their captain is gonna be which is different to saying who they think will get the most points. The poll is nothing to do with who people have in their team, its purely asking which player they think will get the most points in gameweek 23.

You should of named the thread 'Top scorer in GW23' or something along those lines. Most people probably think this is the GW23 captaincy poll

I can see BigCliffs argument here. Biggest point scorer is not always the best captain choice. For example Rvp would be a better choice than Conor wickham.

Wickham might score a few against Norwich but he would be a risky choice. If he fails you lose out to the 34% of teams that own Rvp (and quite likely have captained him)

If you can't beat 'em- join 'em!

In my opinion the best captaincy choice is Rvp, followed by Dempsey.

Surely by definition people will be choosing their captain by who they think will get the most points?

If the player they think will get the most points this game week is not in their team to captain in the first place then why bother posting.

I have a feeling vdv will have a good week so I will captain him.

Seriously guys this isnt rocket science. Its an alternative to the usual captain poll. Im simply asking who people think will get the most points this week irrespective of who they have in their teams. Im not asking who people are gonna be captaining.

For example some people may not have bale but think he will get the most points this week.

I find the standard captain polls unhelpfull as it doesnt give a true indication of who the best captain pics are as they are restricted to who people have in their teams.

For example Gerrard was a potential high scorer last week against bolton with the other top players facing difficult fixtures. He was captain in 'the other site's' Dream team. However, Gerrard has a low ownership so his captain potential wouldnt be reflected in the standard fiso captain poll.

I'd say adebayor as I think he's due a big big haul and is obviously playing a short of confidence wigan side.

But will I be captaining him? No. He is very inconsistent and there is also a large chance he will draw a blank (I don't think he will, but I'm not confident).

I'll be captaining mr reliable RVP - I don't see him going batshit mental this weekend (to steal a phrase I loved from someone on here ages ago) but I'm pretty sure he'll score or assist at least once. There's also the fact that many top fpl players will no doubt captain him this week, so it seems slightly risky not to.

This is why this type of poll also does not give "a true indication of who the best captain is". I don't think either do, but the usual type seems to make more sense (sorry to put down the thread too gooberman).

If the thread asked for who they thought would score the most points, a lot of people would still narrow the choice down to who they actually own.

I currently have it on Bale, but with his injury doubt, it's like to move to RVP with Adebayor(v)

As for who I think would be the best pick regardless of whether I own them... I'd still plump for Bale (assuming he's fine).

Bale has a very good home scoring record and he's at home to one of the worst teams in the Premier League.
