Awful to look at and very slow to load.

Unfortunately, we are becoming increasingly bedeviled with all these Tile-like user interfaces with more (and worse) to follow with the Metro interface to Windows 8, due for release later this year.

I appreciate that this is all a matter of taste, but I for one hate the waste of screen real estate and childrens' picture book appearance to these interfaces. Hopefully they will be a passing fad and my guess is that they'll quickly become the UI design equivalent of the 1980's mullett-style haircut.

Another shocking example is the new Google Menu monstrosity - hard to believe that it's from the same company that has designed so many fantastic logos over the past decade, or so.

I don't like the yellow on black navigation bar that blends into the page heading or the white headlines on the boxes that blend into the white background. Could do with something to separate them from their background.

Quite like the multi-column layout for more information and will get used to where everything has moved to but I wish they'd use the whole screen and not keep with the wide margin, centred, format.

Give them feedback via their three question survey here

I work in web design and most of the time these website refreshes are very positive developments. However this site is an utter shambles - colour scheme, layout, usability have all taken big steps backwards from the previous site.

I filled in the questionnaire and slagged off its look, confusion and colours,

Also had a dig at them featuring tweets on there and on the Sportsday Live section. If you want Tweets use twitter. If they are a story, write that story.

We may well be but the website is designed by kids* for kids but this is the BBC who have a wide audience age range.

It seems pretty obvious to me that this is designed with upcoming touch screen tech in mind - isn't Windows 8 designed to be navigated via touch? Tiles are ideal for this, as seen on smartphones. I quite like it, though I can appreciate why others won't.

Think we'll get used to new format and display quite easily.

Maybe it's human nature to baulk at change: the GOM syndrome? Remember the Fiso negativity when BBC sports site was revamped in 2003?

One positive - there may be others - is display of league fixtures. It's now much easier to review month's details and capture content into spreadsheet; eg:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/pre ... e/fixtures

I quite like it and there seems to be far more data although navigation will take time to work out.

Whenever an old website is redesigned the world moans. I have currently been testing the new site as part of my job for a leading bookmaker. When first looked at it thought it was awful after an hour thought it was fantastic.
Humans hate change. Simple as that.

It's very true that change is rarely immediately liked. When I first saw the site I panicked about the lack of borders but I'm sure it'll be second nature before long. I'm sure the same was said about Fantasy Premier League and even FISO in the past.

The comment about the future of the internet re tablets etc is on the money I think, which probably answers the GOM men question about the prominence of Twitter despite me being on the side of murf!

Site still appears to be using Adobe Flash rather than HTML5. Still not iPad/iPhone friendly which surprises me.

All videos on BBC websites will be iDevice friendly bt the time the olympics start, they've said.

I hate the Sportsday Live section. it used to be small amounts of important info, now they have videos and pictures everywhere. Less is more, sometimes!

Interesting. Be a huge undertaking converting all of their audio and visual clips to iPlayer though. Some are already iDevice friendly, and have been for some time, but it seems hit and miss what they put into iPlayer and what uses Flash. Site such as the BBC simply have to be as compliant as possible, but it will take time.

I quite like the football statistics which are accessible from the main league tables

The top navigation bar is going to drive me mad though. Every time you mouse over it the colour goes from black to white - why???? - especially as it does it just moving the mouse to the browser tabs.

Interesting how many people on the comments are complaining about the amount of yellow. I've just watched the intro video and the first thing it shows just before the website review is a warning sign "Eye protection must be worn" - How true!

I thought it would also have been a modern "fluid and responsive" design with all those rigid column sizes so that when you make the browser window smaller or display the site on a smaller screen the columns would re-arrange to save you having to scroll sideways, but no.

Also noticed that none of the "more sports" have been done yet and I'm not sure why the Formula1 site is a slightly different colour scheme to the others but its much easier to look at without the yellow banner and light background.

Just got find the live text for tonight's games now.

You lot should get yourself a text based browser to lose all the stuff you don't like. Anyone would think we were in the blinkin' early 90s with all the comments. Sheesh.
