Besides, I may have considered it unique, but over in FPL, 50,000 plus transfers in during the last few weeks would suggest otherwise, and Sky would surely mirror that, but just in smaller numbers?

You'll not be needing my address just yet to send me my share of your winnings I presume ?

After I bought Bale in FPL,and captained him,49,999 people followed suit.

That deserved more success than it brought in the end. Rooney, Drogba and Lampard ruined your parade there.

Back on thread topic. Bazza, will you be left with injured Rooney and Fabregas now?

Roon,Drogs and Arteta also. At least Arteta should be Ok for the WHM game.

As Fab's 40% likely to play tonight v Barca according to Wenger,he should be fit for Wolves, but could be rested I suppose.

Maybe Rooney will make it for the Che game;fingers crossed for the scan result today.

I held off signing Arteta when I learnt he wasn't even on the bench last week, and Fabs is defo borderline, but they are more likely to risk him tonight than Sat, perhaps? I still have two transfers left.

As for Rooney, I don't give a monkies about whether he is fit for Man Utd I am afraid. I just want him OK for the World Cup, and if that means I am stuck with him in fantasy football, so be it.

Baz, I do keep trying to keep this thread on topic for you. What are your thoughts?

update time!

Team1 - 1214pts £54.8m 2 transfers left
Friedel
Evra, Carr, Dunne, Warnock
Lampard, Fabregas, Modric, Larsson
Torres, Drogba

me - 1206pts £53.3m 2 transfers left
Friedel
Vermaelen, Johnson, Huth, Shawcross
Lamp, Fab, Milner, N'Zogbia
Rooney, Drogba

Team3 - 1178pts £54.4m 3 transfers left
Friedel
Johnson, Richards, Corluka, Hughes
Lampard, Fabregas, Milner, valencia
Rooney, Drogba

I had planned Drog to Torres (for 2 games) then back to Drog with my remaining 2 transfers. Think it might have to be Rooney to Torres (or Tevez maybe?) now :( and keep the last one.

Looks like you can afford

Roon  Torres
Fab  Gerrard

Bang on the money...could be a sign  :!: :D

Or maybe you could 'copy' Grob and bring in Arteta.

I can't help thinking this is the move I have to make at this late stage.... anyone want to persuade me otherwise?

I don't like the Gerrard move, Barry. Torres though, is a goodie. However, you may be able to only do both financially? Gerrard has had a poor season by his standards, and you have to ask yourself, would you consider him for any other reason than an injury to Fabregas?

would I be right in saying he's played his preferred position the last few games?

both these moves are risks... Rooney may not miss too many games, Gerrard might continue to do nothing......

I do think Liverpool have the best run in though - and I think being light on transfers (compared to team3) it's time to be different - and both teams can't afford Gerrard.....

I don't have a clue what to do to be honest!

I can't tell you much about positions, other than in a recent game on Sky, the studio guests made a point of commenting how dejected Gerrard looked after being moved out of his favoured position during the game. There is no doubting they have a fine run in, but in Fantasy Stakes I have been picking Gerrard regularly for his easier fixtures, and it hasn't worked. However, he must have one big scoring game left in him this season, surely?

Torres is a stand-out choice up front, but then Rooney may only miss two games at most. No midfielders jump up at you, but Fabregas needs a definite permanent replacement.

We could have done without these changes, and in a way I wish I only had one transfer left, which I would have had to use on Fabregas, leaving Rooney well alone.

I can't help much more, Baz!

Sensible move I think. Does it help that team 3 has done the same, though?

FWIW I brought in Bent for Rooney, because Sunderland, although struggling, do have a really good run in. Bent will be wanting to absolutely make sure Fabio has to take him to the World Cup, and he actually scores against anyone - home or away. I made him (C), because it is written in the stars that he will shove one up 'arry this afternoon!

well it uses up one of his transfers, means he won't catch up any but also that I won't pull away.

what about G Johnson for Fabregas?

I just don't trust any Liverpool player to perform apart from Torres.

8-) So far, so good, and for once I backed up my instinct in FS, too. Early doors, though, of course.

update time!

Team1 - 1313pts 0 transfers left
Friedel
Evra, Carr, Dunne, Warnock
Lampard, Cahill, Modric, Larsson
Defoe, Drogba

me - 1293pts 0 transfers left
Friedel
Vermaelen  , Johnson, Huth, Shawcross
Lamp, Gerrard, Milner, N'Zogbia
Torres  , Drogba

Team3 - 1254pts 0 transfers left
Friedel
Johnson, Richards, Corluka, Hughes, baines
Lampard, Milner, valencia
Tevez, Drogba

I've done well over the past few weeks to keep in touch with team1 and keep team3 at bay despite having 3 players down (I've not had a full 11 since Shawcross was involved in that leg break!) the advantage the others had in transfers is now over so it's a straight team & captain choice battle for the run in.

this weeks captains are, in team order,

Drogba
Milner
Milner
