All quiet on the fantasy golf front then!
What is the current consensus on where to pick your players?
I have used a couple of transfers to get players into european events and balance up the teams.
Clearly in 2 weeks time there will be no cut in the states so it will be easy points but until then there must be good scope for closing the gap with very weak euro events.

My teams are

Els
Harrington
Weir
Dyson
Gallacher
JAIDEE (oops)

Cink
Clark
Pampling
Verplank
Brier
N Green
MY BEST TEAM AND CONSEQUENTLY TAKING RISKS

Furyk
Harrington
Ogilvy
Rose
Snedeker
Forsyth

MY BEST TEAM
Singh
Donald
Poulter
Derksen
Rumford
Mahan

Probably not my best team but the one I have most optimism in!

Just worked out that althogu I wonone of the Open comps my performance on the majors was equal between the 4 teams ie each team was my best performer once.

Consequently that is why I am doing RUBBISH

Any thoughts on which team will do best this week?!

Especially rich boy TOFFEELOVER

Matchplay-wise bit of a mare last week.

Only two out of seven got through

Alastair Forsyth cost me dear again, if I had any trans left I'd bin the b*gger across the board.

Team that beat you is still in though

I left all my Euro players out this week.. including Forsyth - just trying to get through the Matchplay.

I am confused as to why it appears that most people have left out their Euro players this week. Does someone know about a secret double weighting that will come through retrospectively?

In US you are basically having a majors line up for single points and a standard cut whereas in Europe it is recognised as the weakest event of the year.

Got to play your euro guys unless they really have been abysmal.and I mean abysmal.

I have even stuck with Jaidee & Forsyth in spite of poor weeks last week as they need only hit the ball to make the cut.

Saying that -they will miss the cut and all the expected stars in america will fill the top 20 places and I will once again look a fool.

PLUS - there is the added enticement to me. I need some freaky results to climb the table!

;)

I may be a pro yet!

S Langer (AM) 23 over for the day after 14 holes.

I think even I could get close to that.

Must be a family invite or they thought they had Bernard (They should have seen that he had already received an invite!)

Becaaaauuuse... my Euro players are not the most exciting batch you will ever see. Lafeber, Sandelin, Forsyth in one, Dyson and Noren in another. It could be a big fault of mine, but for both fantasy golf and football, I tend to ignore the fixtures or the tournament and just look at my "star" players and pick what I consider by best line-ups. So, if I had a Harrington or a, errr, well Harrington, I would be playing him. :)

I think it was simple for me - look at the US field and there are several players in a rich vein of form. Look at the European line-up and there are several batches of mince. Granted, it's a weak field, but I am 100% more confident of picking a few top-20 finishers in the US comp than I am gambling on who might come good in Europe.

Sounds very reasonable - just a matter of risk and reward for me at this stage.

I am looking for some top dogs to faulter so that getting 6 making the cut is a great result.

Examples
Mickleson - out of sorts
Furyk - Bad back still playing up?
Snedeker - may be tired?
Austin - Who knows whether he will play his a game
Scott - Doughnut
Goosen - Perm any 1 from 10
Donald - always being talked about as the next european major winner (Bit late now!0
Stenson - Don't believe the hype!
Garcia - likely to get the wrong scorecard and cry
Howell III - Early season over performer
Chad Campbell - been playing like a tin of soup
T Clark - Back problems?!?

Ideal team for US then in my eyes is from

Singh
Els
Verplank
Cink
Harrington
Rose
Choi
Sabbatini

Loads of brash thoughts from me but it jst highlights how my mind works and how difficult it was to pick my US players.

Will be much easier when half of them miss the next cut of the FEDEX - I will not have any choices! :)

Noren Tied 2nd (-5)
Forsyth Tied 5th (-4)

Padmole - Maybe the fact that he's finished 28-over-par is why Stefan Langer isn't a Pro either...

On the whole, I have to agree that it is usually slightly easier in theory to score points in Europe (which is why the prices of European players is slightly higher than the PGA Tour equivalents), although results in the US tend to go a bit more as expected.

He took at 12 at a Par 5 - probably had to write that on the card in really small type to fit it in!

Quite chuffed I did sneak Daddy Langer into a team or 2 though 8-)

Admittedly, not ones involved in matchplay

Strangely disappointed to see one of my players Sabattini grab a birdie on the last to go -8, because one of my other players Choi finished on -7 :D Rest not up to scratch though, but Matchplay wise, so far so good.

With Choi & Sabbatini then you must be safe.

I am now complete history as they are 2 form players that were reasonably priced that I decided to drop (In spite of my note further up!) and take a risk against hoping everyone had them and they bombed.

COuldnt have been any worse- I name 8 potential winners and they are the only 2 I leave out. Inspired!

I've got a feeling in one of my crap teams I put Langer in and left Sabbatini on the bench  Nothing to lose, I reasoned.....apart from more ground in the FISO League.

Matchplay is really tough this week - not much common ground in my competitions. I am looking forward to this year's survey. There are a number of rudderless teams making their way through the matchplay. Fine enough - but with the "away team wins" rule if all else is equal I think it should be amended that the final arbiter is whether the team is managed or not.

Seeing as my main team went out on away rules I may echo that!

But more importantly the LANGER circus has recommenced with a treble bogey on the first!

Even my mate beat young Stef yesterday with his 26 over

Are we cruel? Are we ....... Rich & free to do what he likes ....lucky so-and-so!

The guys that really suffered were the 2 playing with him

How can they get into any rhythm when they have to put up with that. I am a very average golfer and to play with someone shooting 40+ over on a round (As that is comparable) would definitely effect my game

A joke really

Need to check whether his partners made the cut - If they did then they were demi-gods

As for this week in genreal - Most made the cut but none of them challenging

I need some real charges at the weekend from the likes of Pampling, Clark, Verplank & Cink.

Verplank is playing Brilliant tee to green but has missed at least 10 puts inside 7 ft

Still could be worth an e/w

Choi is to consistent to be caught

OK SIngh was a duffer - but anyone who has Woods (Which you must to have achance of winning!) would have got rid of Singh by now

(Selective judgement!)
Singh
Els (6th)
Verplank (31)
Cink (31)
Harrington (31)
Rose (24)
Choi (1st)
Sabbatini (3rd)

lET'S SEE HOW THEY FINISH THOUGH

dESPERATE FOR

Verplank, Cink to make there way into the top 10!
