It was suggested Zamora was rested for Europa, but they won the away leg 3-0.

It has also been suggested they played Dempsey up front because he played so well in that Europa game, but he partnered Zamora in that game. So surely partnering him with Johnson would alter the dynamics.

Perhaps Jol wanted Dempsey up top again and purely thought it was Johnson's turn to play rather than Zamora's, but you'd want to play your best 11 in a tough game.

Basically what I'm asking is, is Zamora injured or struggling with fitness.

and as far as Hoolihan is concerned I am lost and confused, I am also lost. Any ideas?

I have since discovered Zamora had an Ankle injury.

Hoolahan not playing was purely tactical. Norwich matched Stokes formation by going 4-4-2 and opted for 2 out and out wingers in Pilkington and Bennett. Hoolahan can only really play at the tip of the diamond formation, which the the formation Norwich usually play, but this probably wouldn't worked against Stoke. It would have probably been too narrow and Hoolahan, being 5ft 6, would have been at risk of being bullied by Stokes backline. I didn't pick Hoolahan for this very reason, he is at risk of a formation change.

As for Zamora, he's injured I believe.
