I like a lot of players bought him at 5.0 at the start of the season, he's now 6.0 and a 0.5 profit is there to be taken. He's the definition of exposed and could be traded for a differential that is about to take off.

Since the loss of Lucas, we look very open in midfield these days, shipping 3 vs Bolton, and two last night to City. Spearing coming back will help but im not sure he's the answer to our dmf issues.

After Wolves our fixtures are as follows:

Spurs (H)
Man United (A)
No Fixture (Calring Cup final)
Arsenal (H)
Sunderland (A)
QPR (A)

Not many clean sheets from that lot I rekon.

I still think he's the best left back in the prem and having to buy him back in a couple of months will suck but I'm leaning towards taking the plunge.

Ha ha. Do you mean from a ff perspective, when Liverpool have good fixtures and Lucas fit, or actually just the best?!

i think i'd have to agree with AlexSong on this; not a massive fan of enrique's, but i can't think of an LB who has played any better than him so far this season.

having said that, yes his fixtures are kind of crap and i think i'll be shipping him after wolves :)

I'll probably keep him in for the rest of the season, very cheap and we've been getting a lot of clean sheets.

Really? I have got one and I would say that most probably have 2. Aguero not doing it at the mo, Kompany had a suspension and Dzeko is unreliable. Some would have also dropped Silva (but looks like they are reversing the transfer now  )

I dropped Kompany as part of my WC in GW22. I didn't bring back a MC defender, as I felt their defence would suffer without him. I can't afford to bring him back in now without 3 changes and messing up my longer term plan (I also don't want to tie up too many ££ in my defenc,e as clean sheets seem rare nowadays). So, I will take a gamble on Clichy to get some MC defensive coverage wth room for a Man City striker if they start to look good again.

mmmm.... i was dead set on him until i read this thread. Good point about the fixtures and the form.

I think a swap out for Cahill could be on the cards now.

I haven't done a detailed analysis,it was just my impression of the teams I've looked at,so you may be right.

It seemed to me that after the DGW,many reduced their Spurs representation and instead increased that of MC,due to their respective fixtures.

Aguero I agree isn't doing the business at present for his price (the same can be said of several other top priced strikers) but with such good fixtures ahead and his outstanding talent, I believe investment in him will pay dividends, albeit Yaya Toure's return may prove the catalyst.

I've shipped him out this week. Bit concerned about how many clean sheets we're likely to keep.

i just had to respond to this. ryan taylor is a terrible left back, awful but can take a free kick, ekotto is ok but not great defending and holds the ball too long. the other two are good and should be on the list with baines i would think and enrique - not that many great lb's but taylor isn't even close

I thought we were talking about THIS SEASON, do I think Taylor is better than enrique? No I do not, but this season I think he has performed better. You cannot discount the free kicks just because they are not during open play. Baines has been pretty bad this year if you remove the set pieces from what he has done.

Are you kidding? Enrique has easily been the best LB this season, Evra and Cole have been diabolical, just ask Man Utd or Chelsea fans, they've been awful, especially Evra who's been poor for 18 months now, definitely living on reputation.

FPL points is all that matters... he's low VFM atm.

I would like to keep him for their double, but he will drop soon so I can buy back for 0.3 more. Hopefully by that time I can make at least 0.1 of that back elsewhere too.

I'm 99% sure he won't make my WC team next week and might even start on the bench this GW.

Not convinced Liverpool will keep a CS away to Wolves, although the bookies seem to think they will, so still undecided.

I cashed in this week with the wildcard. Tough fixtures and just doesn't seem good value any more. Plus you can get a man utd or fulham defender for 1M-2M cheaper (depending on your enrique selling price) and a man city defender for around the same.

I've had second thoughts. Not ready to pull the trigger yet and have drafted a team that includes him http://www.fiso.co.uk/forum/my-current-wildcard-team-t93065.html

He is a season long player for me. Only paid 5.1 for him and liverpool's defence is as good as any.

Might be tempted next week. Enrique out for Shotton and upgrade Ramires to Valencia.

Or I might keep him. Not sure yet.

I doubt many 5.0 defenders will score more than him over the season. If you got him at an inflated 5.9, 6.0 it's a different matter and he's not great VFM.

I don't think this is the right way of looking at it. He should be compared with defenders at his selling price, even if bought at 5.0.

For want of a silly example: Lets say you buy cahill now at 5.2m and he starts for chelsea, scores a couple of spectacular goals on motd, the masses bring him in and rockets up in price over a few months or so to (an unrealistic) 7.4m. You can then sell for 6.3m, but if you are still comparing him to 5.2m defenders - say a shawcross - you don't make the obvious swap to micah richards for man city's excellent run of games towards the end of the season. Mistake.

That's interesting. Comparing replacements at the selling price is one possibility - the Micah example illustrates this. But in that case there is a desirable replacement (based on fixtures) and you are close to the end of the season (so equity stored in player value is less important). For Enrique, seems to me there's not much point right at the moment in a replacement at the selling price: just swapping him for a 5.5mil defender at this point of the season (even taking fixtures into account) is not particularly appealing (to me, anyway). Alternatively, I could look for a much cheaper defender, say 5.0mil, Enrique's original price, and invest the 0.5mil realised equity elsewhere in my team. I suspect this is what most current sellers are doing (hence valuation at the original buying price). Personally, right now I can't see a 5.0mil-ish defender who I think will be almost as reliable as Enrique in terms of points and minutes and I don't think my need to repair problems elsewhere is so great that I have to go down that road. So I'm sticking - the problem falls in the not broke/don't fix category for me. But the above caused me to think it through...

I'm not cashing in on Enrique at 5.6m but feel happy about cashing in on BAE for £5.4

Does that seem right?
