I keep getting an urge to cash in on RVP for Rooney, with Rooney at a price that will only go up and RVP at a price that can only go down it seems like a winner.

I first thought of doing it last week where he got 2 goals (but RVP got a goal) then this week he got another 1 but nothing from RVP. While I expect RVP to keep on scoring as long as he's fit I think Rooney will keep up a decent run of goals now and Utd have a decent run of games to keep the goals coming.

Am I mad or could this be a shrewd move?

I have also contemplated getting in both although this would involve dropping Nani for Walters (or equivalent) and then dropping Yak for Roo.

Thoughts?

I also gave it a thought but there are many goal scorers in Man U compared to Arsenal where everything revolves round RVP. RVP is taking corners, penalties and scoring goals so surely can't be that pricey compared to the price of Rooney. I would personally keep him unless he gets injured

What stated above plus:

I think Rooney/Walters combo will outscore Yak/Nani combo. It depends also when you bought Persie. If it was @13.0 then no big deal, but if it was 12.2 then...

actually i thought i'd bought him cheaper than I did. was 12.7 so only gaining 0.2.

it's not just the gain that you should consider but how much it will cost you extra to get him back should he start scoring again.

That would be an extra 0.3, possibly 0.4 - although with RVP at 49% to drop it might just be 0.2

But maybe after Yak has had a go at Bolton's non-defence?

Get both in for their tasty home games in GW 18 & 19....could lead to some tricky captaincy decisions though....

this is the syndrome us tottenham fans had when chelsea flashed 40 million pounds for modric.

saying we can sell and get in another top class player

the question you have to ask yourself is ....why do you have to cash in to get another top class player when you have one already?

i would assume this game is to win and by that you need points. if you can find a combo that can outscore one with RVP and one another then perhaps you have a point

for me personally under no circumstances save for an injury will i be dumping RVP. he will keep scoring till the end of the year and i expect him to be highest points scorer by the end

arsenal play still a fluid transition attacking offense of which RVP is THE lynch pin

my advise would be to keep RVP and cheapen another part of your team to get support scorers...

Which is why Walters and Roo >> Nani and Yak ?

i cant pretend to be any good at this game, i feel fortune has really carried me on

if he can keep RVP and still have rooney and walters...then that would most definitely be my pick

it might also be worth considering the dead cat bounce effect of martin oneil and invest money in larsoon?

thanks for the thoughts everyone.

seems walters & roo could be the option to make after these midweek games. Agree that it's worth keeping Yak for the Bolton game tonight.

Anyone other than Walters that would be worth taking at similar price?

At the moment my midfield is Drenthe, Nani, Eagles, Silva and Sessegnon.

In addition to the above, or rather a further clarification, RvP is an out and out CF and when fit will score all season long, as he has shown. Rooney, however, is a) a v. widely recognised (even by SAF I think) on/off striker who could easily go quite a few games without a goal and b) isn't always played upfront hence the competition comments.

As a -ve for RvP it is now the cold season so you could well be foreced to make this decision soon anyway plus Arsenal still have a proper campaign in Europe to worry about where they'll have to use him if they want to do well.

This is probably the only reason I'm glad not to have him as I don't have to worry about this decision!

so Van Persie will not be departing from the fairfranco line up anytime soon.

However the Nani & Yak v Walters & Rooney remains debatable.

I have the 2 transfers available but with Nani in decent form I'd expect regular points form him. Yak will score every few games for blackburn i should think.

ALTERNATIVELY

Demba Ba in for Yak and leave Nani as he is?

In Dutch news, Wenger has stated that he will not rest RvP this year in order for him to keep scoring goals and break Shearer's record. Ergo, captain RvP next game 8-) (or Nani, or Rooney :D)

Wenger claimed he is not ready to give him a rest as he prepares for two home games in succession against Wolverhampton Wanderers and QPR.

'Robin keeps going and of course you always have that question about whether to rest him. He played against Manchester City but at the moment he feels alright so I just take a gamble. He is only three goals away from beating the record so now I will start to rest him! We've now got a breather until we prepare for the Wolves game on Boxing Day

I still stand by what I said about 5 weeks ago and that was the best 3 forwards you can own at the moment (which I admit, I've owned for a while now) is: Ade, Sturridge, RVP.

I got RVP in for 11.9 and so it's really a question of when you got him. I'd sell for 12.5 and he'll cost 13.2 to get back. Paying .7 more to bringing a player back in is way OTT to consider.

If RVP goes through this season without getting injured, how much you can cash in for him, shouldn't really come into play. There's not really many better bang for your buck forwards and if you own Nani and Jones you already have enough Man United attacking threat. When United score, the chances are one of Nani or Jones will be involved. I've actually considered Valencia too instead of Evans.

He's the best player to own on the game and is one of the most consistent players in the game. He's also a (c) choice for most games, which you can't put a price on.

Even at 13.2 he's worth considering.

RVP isn't a million miles away from a peak-era FPL Ronaldo IMO. Taking him out for anyone is crazy... 3 scores of 2 since GW6 (away to City and Spurs), one 7, and the other 8 weeks in double figures... Does any more need to be said on this?

Clearly, it's an actor. You need in-form footballers for this game.

Yakubu has given me something to think about now.

I have a desire to cash in RVP this week for Adebayor.

We can always bring him back with our January wildcard.
