His first sentence was enough for me to turn it off, and go for a dodgy link. Got one from Oz...

Surely he must go!

To make it worse the Beeb have sent Graham Taylor along too

Imagine traveling and staying with those two

Is he a Liverpool fan by anychance? his hatred for Manchester United and in particular Sir Alex Ferguson is getting more and more embarrassing. I Don't mind Graham Taylor and I respect his opinion on all things football but Alan Green? It won't be long before he is retired, maybe a few complaints to the BBC might speed up his departure.

I thought Alan Green refused to work with Graham Taylor after he was outed as a Liverpool fan by Taylor and was called "stupid" on air by him? And Green refused to travel on the same plane as Mark Saggers once. He really does ruin any commentary with his constant whinging about refereeing decisions and his petty righteousness. Horrible man.

However on Wednesday he was a shining beacon of journalism compared to Peter "that night in Barcelona" Drury who had his tongue so far up one of SAF's internal orifices it was untrue. I had to turn the sound off on ITV and switch to 5 Live, which was annoying as the 5 commentary was about 10 seconds ahead of ITV's "live" action.

The tv is quicker through analogue (the old aerial thing).

They're all either too bland or too opinionated, or accused of supporting one team or the other, it seems it's impossible to win... I really don't get people having a go at commentators and pundits so much. They're the least of football's problems.

Have to say Brian Moore on the rugby did really annoy me recently though, he's a lot worse than any of the football lot, his personal vendetta against one referee made it almost secondary that there was a match going on and was incredible to see on a BBC show. Must be only a matter of time before he lets slip with an F-word on air and the BBC send him packing.

Have to agree with the Green comments - he ruins any match on the radio and gets switched over whenever he comes on. But a lot of the summarisers on TV now are just as annoying. I wish todays commentators would just commentate, rather than having to give us their usually biased opinions. They could do with watching and learning from a few Brian Moore (ITV) commentaries, when the 'expect summariser' would only speak when he was asked to!

Peter Aliss normally winds me up, big style.

However, after Green he is almost pleasant to hear

i Just listen to the radio with the sound turned down when Green is on.

Bit like Beglin in ITV - absolute dullard.

Aliss is alright unless he starts mumbling into the microphone, when you can't hear a word he says unless you turn the telly volume way up.

I have this mental image of him slowly falling asleep, mumbling away and starting to drool... then he gets poked by a member of the production team that wakes him up again and he starts to talk properly. :)

Not being as annoying as normal, but that is not saying much.

Apparently he has a bullet roof vest for the Manc and Brum derbies. Do they make them that big?

I don't have to listen to this, but I do listen to Saturday's 606 phone-in, where AG is often aggressive, unfriendly and arrogant

I actually like Green as a commentator (describing the games as they happen)

I dislike him on 606 or expressing any views at all.

I like Taylor as a man. I think he is honorable. But the poor fool knows nothing about football and only undertsands "pace" and "power", "physical presence" and of course "getting it forward quickly" ...................

But he is the best commentator for me.

Just my preference. He has passion and excitement and is clear in his description. The others are a bit matter of fact for me.

On 606 he is an unbearable t0sser of the highest order

Well the callers do not help.

I normally turn it off...

1st call up: We should have brought on RvP, when Verm got injured and gone 3 at the back

I listened to Green today due to my dislike of Pearce. However Green's constant moaning today was ridiculous he has become a parody of himself.
