POT BLACK - Round 1, Group stage A

GROUP A

Group favourite Velcro struggles to beat off Jeffersdn in a frame decided on the black. Meanwhile Andybarrell had a comfortable victory over Krispdafunk and is now a strong favourite to advance to the pro knockout stages.

velcro 58 jeffersdn 52
Krispdafunk 44 Andybarrell 63

GROUP A P W L T pts diff
Andybarrell 1 1 0 0 19
Velcro 1 1 0 0 6
Jeffersdn 1 0 1 0 -6
Krispdafunk 1 0 1 0 -19

velcro V Andybarrell
Krispdafunk V jeffersdn

GROUP B

No surprises here as Dalythgoe & Padrock moved to the top of the group, although Dalythgoe's expected hammering of blahblah proved to be falsely optomistic

Dalythgoe 41 Blahblah 33
Padrock 53 RomynPG 34

GROUP B
Padrock 1 1 0 0 19
Dalythgoe 1 1 0 0 8
Blahblah 1 0 1 0 -8
RomynPG 1 0 1 0 -19

Dalythgoe V RomynPG
Padrock V Blahblah

GROUP C

A couple of low scoring frames and the group favourite getting turned over suggests that this is going to be an interesting group

Sligorover 27 Flyingkillercob 44
UmExcuseMe 45 Triggerhappy 31

GROUP C
Flyingkillercob 1 1 0 0 17
UmExcuseMe 1 1 0 0 14
Triggerhappy 1 0 1 0 -14
Sligorover 1 0 1 0 -17

Sligorover V Triggerhappy
UmExcuseMe V Flyingkillercob

GROUP D

Another low scoring group with Brogie posting the lowest score for a frame winner in the round.

SgB 44 Spencer4 32
Whatever 30 Brogie 35

GROUP D
Sgb 1 1 0 0 12
Brogie 1 1 0 0 5
Whatever 1 0 1 0 -5
Spencer4 1 0 1 0 -12

SgB V Brogie
Whatever V Spencer4

GROUP E

The Group of Death, for me at least as I allow an out of form CY to sneak a marginal victory, whilst Flyman goes down to the biggest margin of defeat this week

Canary Yellow 39 AKNel1 36
1086 63 Flyman 26

GROUP E
1086 1 1 0 0 37
Canary Yellow 1 1 0 0 3
AKNel1 1 0 1 0 -3
Flyman 1 0 1 0 -37

Canary Yellow V Flyman
1086 V AKNel1

GROUP F

The form book was thrown right out of the window in group F with the 2 seeded players failing to post 30 points in defeat.

M-Boy 27 Digsby 44
Cherylhoney 24 R_U_Sure 44

GROUP F
R_U_Sure 1 1 0 0 20
Digsby 1 1 0 0 17
M-Boy 1 0 1 0 -17
Cherylhoney 1 0 1 0 -20

M-Boy V R_U_Sure
Cherylhoney V Digsby

GROUP G

The highest scoring rame of the week saw Bagpuss overturn Johnathan, whilst Shawpower also put in a fine display in his surprise win over Barry

Johnathan 49 Bagpuss 62
Barry 38 Shawpower 55

GROUP G
Shawpower 1 1 0 0 17
Bagpuss 1 1 0 0 13
Johnathan 1 0 1 0 -13
Barry 1 0 1 0 -17

Johnathan V Shawpower
Barry V Bagpuss

GROUP H

The closest frame of the opening round saw Viddleodge edged out by a solitary point, which allows outsider Karrde to sit pretty at the top of the group.

Carlosthefinger 32 Karrde 50
Glasgowlatic 52 Viddleodge 51

GROUP H
Karrde 1 1 0 0 18
Glasgowlatic 1 1 0 0 1

POT BLACK - Round 1, Group stage A

GROUP A

A good win for Andybarrell leaves him needing a win over Jeffers to secure the group. Velcro and Krispdafunk will now battle it out to see who advances to the Pro knockout stage.

43 velcro V Andybarrell 73
51 Krispdafunk V jeffersdn 44

GROUP A P W L T pts diff Pts
Andybarrell 2 2 0 0 49 2
Krispdafunk 2 1 1 0 -12 1
Velcro 2 1 1 0 -24 1
Jeffersdn 2 0 2 0 -13 0

velcro V Krispdafunk
Andybarrell V jeffersdn

GROUP B

Two frames that went to a re-spot Dalythgoe eventually edging past Romyn after several minutes, meanwhile Blahblah quickly finished off Padrock. Dalythgoe cannot rest easy though despite leading the group as his points difference means that both Padrock and Blahblah can edge past him.On the other hand Romyn needs a big win and Dalythgoe to win to sneak into the Pro knockout stage

53* Dalythgoe V RomynPG 53
61 Padrock V Blahblah 61*

Dalythgoe 2 2 0 0 15 2
Padrock 2 1 1 0 12 1
Blahblah 2 1 1 0 -1 1
RomynPG 2 0 2 0 -26 0

Dalythgoe V Padrock
RomynPG V Blahblah

GROUP C

Fyingkillercob has worked himself into a strong position as a defeat of 20 points or less would still see him advance.

40 Sligorover V Triggerhappy 59
51 UmExcuseMe V Flyingkillercob 80

GROUP C
Flyingkillercob 2 2 0 0 46 2
Triggerhappy 2 1 1 0 5 1
UmExcuseMe 2 1 1 0 -15 1
Sligorover 2 0 2 0 -38 0

Sligorover V UmExcuseMe
Triggerhappy V Flyingkillercob

GROUP D

A better week all around in Group D but Brogie and the Cat have the most to smile about. However the 2 must meet in round 3 in a group that remains wide open

60 SgB V Brogie 70
51 Whatever V Spencer4 59

GROUP D
Brogie 2 2 0 0 15 2
Sgb 2 1 1 0 2 1
Spencer4 2 1 1 0 -4 1
Whatever 2 0 2 0 -13 0

SgB V Whatever
Brogie V Spencer4

GROUP E

The Canary continues to scrape through with a win by the tightest of margins, AKNel1 gets himself into the mix with a good win over 1086 leaving Flyman with a mountain to climb

42 Canary Yellow V Flyman 41
67 1086 V AKNel1 77

GROUP E
Canary Yellow 2 2 0 0 4 2
1086 2 1 1 0 27 1
AKNel1 2 1 1 0 7 1
Flyman 2 0 2 0 -38 0

Canary Yellow V 1086
Flyman V AKNel1

GROUP F

Nothing to see here as the two seeds are confined to the Amateur knockout stages following comprehensive defeats. All that remains is to decide the group winner and who takes the wooden spoon.

34 M-Boy V R_U_Sure 56
35 Cherylhoney V Digsby 57

GROUP F
R_U_Sure 2 2 0 0 42 2

M-Boy 2 0 2 0 -39 0
Cherylhoney 2 0 2 0 -42 0

M-Boy V Cherylhoney
R_U_Sure V Digsby

GROUP G
This group really could not be much tighter, all 4 now have a win following Barry's nailbiting re-spotted black win over Bagpuss - who will advance, you decide...

66 Johnathan V Shawpower 50
45* Barry V Bagpuss 45

GROUP G
Bagpuss 2 1 1 0 6 1
Johnathan 2 1 1 0 3 1
Shawpower 2 1 1 0 1 1
Barry 2 1 1 0 -10 1

Johnathan V Barry
Shawpower V Bagpuss

GROUP H

A great couple of weeks for Glasgowlatic mean he can afford to lose by 16 points and still advance to the Pros. Self appointed favourite 'Vidd I was World Champ' Le odge' needs results to go his way elsewhere and to see off the enigmatic Karrde at the same time.

64 Carlosthefinger V Viddleodge 59
77 Glasgowlatic V Karrde 57

GROUP H
Glasgowlatic 2 2 0 0 21 2
Karrde 2 1 1 0 -2 1
Carlos the finger 2 1 1 0 -13 1
Viddleodge 2 0 2 0 -6 0

Carlosthefinger V Glasgowlatic
Viddleodge V Karrde

I hadn't noticed that this had started either.

Need something from captain Elano tonight to turn around my game against WHATEVER, and even then I can still go out on points difference. :(

Going to be close.

Despite having such a large safety cushion, I've gone and mucked it up against Trigger Happy (unless Leadbitter gets a decent points haul  ), so I'm now relying on Sligorover to beat UEM to keep me in it. I think that as long as Elano gets 2 pts, I'm safe.

Johnson to pot the pink to give Trigger Happy victory in this group...and for those of you watching in black and white the pink in the ball beside the blue....

(You need to be over 35 to get this one...)

13 point win, and +12 GD plus Jones/Petrov BONI. Should have qualified, if the other game was not a draw.

POT BLACK - Group Stage 3

GROUP A

73 velcro Krispdafunk 62
68 Andybarrell jeffersdn 34

Andybarrell's dominance of the group continues and he goes forward to the last 16 with the best record. The scrap for second place was settled in a high-scoring frame in which Velcro edged out Krispdafunk with a late clearance to win on the black.

GROUP A P W L T pts diff Pts
Andybarrell 3 3 0 0 83 3
Velcro 3 2 1 0 -15 2
Krispdafunk 3 1 2 0 -21 1
Jeffersdn 3 0 3 0 -37 0

GROUP B

63 Dalythgoe Padrock 60
54 RomynPG Blahblah 67

With blahblah winning his final frame on the pink, Padrock needed to defeat Dalythgoe to advance to the Pro tourney, unfortunately he came up 3 points shy.

GROUP B
Dalythgoe 3 3 0 0 18 3
Blahblah 3 2 1 0 12 2
Padrock 3 1 2 0 9 1
RomynPG 3 0 3 0 -39 0

GROUP C

74 Sligorover UmExcuseMe 67
70 Triggerhappy Flyingkillercob 48

FKC's tame surrender to Triggerhappy opened the door for UEM to steal a place with the Pro's unfortunately for him Sligorover chose this day to enter the fray.

GROUP C
Triggerhappy 3 2 1 0 27 2
Flyingkillercob 3 2 1 0 24 2
UmExcuseMe 3 1 2 0 -22 1
Sligorover 3 1 2 0 -31 1

GROUP D

56 SgB Whatever 55
62 Brogie Spencer4 57

Another couple of bum squeakers here in group D with Brogie divisional win not as clear cut as it first looks.

GROUP D
Brogie 3 3 0 0 20 3
Sgb 3 2 1 0 3 2
Spencer4 3 1 2 0 -9 1
Whatever 3 0 3 0 -14 0

GROUP E

53 Canary Yellow 1086 47
75 Flyman AKNel1 59

Canary Yellow once again edges a thriller, whilst Flyman's first win in the group condemns AK to the Amateurs but fails to lift him from the bottom of the group.

GROUP E
Canary Yellow 3 3 0 0 10 3
1086 3 1 2 0 21 1
AKNel1 3 1 2 0 -9 1
Flyman 3 1 2 0 -22 1

GROUP F

62 M-Boy Cherylhoney 67
65 R_U_Sure Digsby 68

With the qualifying places already sorted it was just a matter of settling the finishing positions in group F.

GROUP F
Digsby 3 3 0 0 42 3
R_U_Sure 3 2 1 0 39 2
Cherylhoney 3 1 2 0 -37 1
M-Boy 3 0 3 0 -44 0

GROUP F

59 Johnathan Barry 65
68 Shawpower Bagpuss 50

The only group of the week where the 2 leading protagonists were both dethroned and forced into the Amateur ranks

GROUP G
Shawpower 3 2 1 0 19 2
Barry 3 2 1 0 -4 2
Johnathan 3 1 2 0 -3 1
Bagpuss 3 1 2 0 -12 1

GROUP H

59 Carlosthefinger Glasgowlatic 54
67 Viddleodge Karrde 75

Carlosthefinger produced a fine performance to depose the group winner but sadly his winning margin was not enough to eclipse Karrde

GROUP H
Glasgowlatic 3 2 1 0 16 2

THE SUPER 16'S

Professional Tournament

Andybarrell V Karrde 70 - 63

Karrde thought he had done enough with an early break of 63, but a fine 70 clearance from Andybarrell carries the hot favourite on through to the Elite Quarter Final stage.

Blahblah V Shawpower 61 - 50

Blahblah's unexpected fine form in this competition continues as he outlasts Sligo in a scrappy frame.

Triggerhappy V R_U_Sure 61 - 66

Another nailbiting frame with R-U sinking the black to claim a 5 point victory.

Sgb V Canary Yellow 56 - 66

The Canary seems to have found his niche in this competition and after a string of close wins in the group stage he was able to comparitively coast to victory here winning on the pink.

1086 V Brogie 45 - 42

Neither player really got into top gear here and 1086 will be delighted to advance having played so poorly.

Digsby V Flyingkillercob 60 - 70

FKC puts Digsby to the sword in a well crafted frame.

Barry V Dalythgoe 74 - 79

Some fine safety work from Dalythgoe saw him come back from the dead here, needing snookers to get back into the frame at one stage. Barry can rightly feel disappointed to have lost a frame he could easily have won.

Glasgowlatic V Velcro 58 - 74

Match of the weekend surely has to be Dalythgoe v Velcro. Oh that's me

2 teams at the top of their game - FISO League 4th v 19th, Side Game League 1st v 4th.

Possibly for the first time I'm the underdog :)

Blahblah's unexpected fine form in this competition continues as he outlasts Sligo in a scrappy frame.

I think that there has been a mix-up between myself and sligorover. I got 70 points last week while Sligo got 50. Mentioning him in the blurb for the Pro event suggests the same.
