Thought this was quite good ... Airplane without the jokes ... only 14 mins long but as we know Airplane had rather a lot of them :)

The place I found this also had a link to the trailer for "Zero Hour" - on which Airplane was spoofed - didn't know that always thought is was purely the Airport films.

And someone posted a great splicing job that shows just how close the 2 movies were - even down the the dialogue

... I'm not sure which is funnier now :)

Forget Israeli or Palestinian Terrorism... Forget the next Labour Leader... Forget the Mercury Music Prize and definitely forget about who's injury you might be fretting about...

Surely is the best thread on FISO that has been posted for ages.

Top stuff Romyn. 8-)

I can't believe I'm the only one who watched this & came up with all the punch-lines that had been cut out.

Never knew it was so close to an 'original' disaster film.

Still one of the funniest films around (even with the gags cut out).

I'll stand corrected but as far as I know.... The Zucker brothers (who wrote and produced Airplane) watched 'Zero Hour' late one night and then decided to make a comedy film... and from that point they went and literally bought the rights to the old 60s film and based the Airplane script on it.

I suspect you're not :)

Watching the Zero Hour clip I was waiting to see the "have you ever seen a grown man naked" line come up though ... but maybe they cut that as it was the 1950s

That sounds about right. I spent around an hour reading around it when I found those clips and that rings a bell.

Even for Airplane's age it's still a fantastic film - other modern(ish) spoofs like Scary Movie etc don't even come close.

Glad you enjoyed the clips - I certainly got a fair few smiles from them.
