Some lads on TFF were kind enough to put a list together of players that would miss games after Christmas because of the African Nations.

For Sun DreamTeam, it's worth considering because if you were to have 3 players from the African nations in your team by the Jan Transfer window, you may have to waste 3 taking them out......?

Essien - Chelsea
Geremi - Newcastle
Kalou - Chelsea
Kanu (may have retired) - Portsmouth
Mikel - Chelsea - Has been dropped by Nigeria but then they weren't in the finals
Muntari
Mido - Tottenham
Martins - Newcastle
Adebayor - Arsenal
Toure - Arsenal
Eboue - Arsenal
McCarthy - Blackburn
Yakubu - Middlesborough
Diouf - Bolton
Lauren - Portsmouth
Babayaro - Newcastle
Fortune - Bolton (if he's still at bolton)
Djimi Traore
Henri Camara
Lua Lua - Portsmouth
Djemba-Djemba - Aston Villa?
Mokoena
Yobo - Everton
Drogba - Chelsea - if he still plays for his national side

Mikel

Some may select him, but unless he comes up with something I doubt he will be playing in the African Nations.

Benjani won't be off to Africa, Zimbabwe aren't there

Not that anyone will put him in their side this year, was worth a punt as a cheap midfielder last year

found a site with fixtures on the African Cup and seems there's not much happening til Feb. Unless I'm reading it wrong, Adebayor and Drog et al have just a single qualifying game each somewhere around the 7-9th Sept then nowt til Feb.

Of course, I'm regularly wrong according to the wife & kids so feel free to correct me :?

Im sure last season Abromavich had a private jet laid out for Drogba so he could fly back n forth and could play most prem games anyway.

Anyone confirm that?

Problem in past has been how long under FIFA regs the country can call on players outside of actual comp, European club managers are not happy about it, depends on individual countries how they will work with the different clubs, some more than others in past.

So we looking at about 5 league matches, 2 FA Cup matches and potential a Carling Cup Semi Final.

The transfer window ends about 2nd of Feb i think so theres not much point in transfering the player out.

So if you pick any of the African players you are gonna have to accept the loss of 7 matches or prey they fall out with their national managers (i'm sure there will be pleanty of this mentioning no names!)

are you sure on this one mate ? because is the african nations cup not run by a different organsiation other than fifa something like cuf or something like that ? i would agree that more than likely they have to go 2 weeks before hand but just wanted to know if this information was 100% correct.

If *you* look on the FIFA website then *you* will see.

Code:
Clubs must release players two weeks before a major tournament.

A player cannot wear his club colours if he is not released for an international.

1) probably miss the week before it starts
2) when they are out of the competition!?
3) do you really need this answering?
4) read rules
5) read rules
6) find out when final is and work it out - it depends which country they play for and which PL team...

Is ther any need to be like that, if youre not going to give a positive comment then can you please do everybody a favour and dont make one at all, I tried to read the rules but the dream team website is playing up and to question 3.), it does need answering because someone mentioned something about drogba been flown in by jet to play some games or something, I maybe wrong however but that does not need you to talk like a fool!

BTW Thanks for the advice :D
