I imagine you get many posts like this before each season, but I wondered if I could ask advice from you all?

I used to run a FFL at work 12 - 13 years ago, it was using the auction format, which I believe is a far better test when playing against colleagues. I used to take points from the Telegraph site and tot them up every week, send out emails, but time has passed, I am now a busy dad ( and husband) and I am planning to run it again this season, but.. I am struggling to find an online solution for the runnng of the league. The OFL/william hill site seems to be the only option, but to a bunch of people who work in the book trade it seems a little pricey, can anyone shed some more light, or will I have to do the stats myself.... any advice much appreciated.

I'd suggest the FPL game: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/#

You can see everyone's teams (apart from latest transfers) and it does all the points for you. Just make sure your boys adhere to the auction rules and only possess their bought players and you should have a trouble-free time of it, oh and it's free.

With FPL's transfer system (one free per week) you could let the players take it in weekly turns to buy a player from the list of non-owned players. Or have it as a 'prize' for manager of the week. Could be fun during the real transfer windows!

Shouldn't take much admin.

One potential problem with FPL is that it is a strictly one team per entrant game so would rule out anybody wanting to also play FPL properly.

(Could do it with other games, TFF for example is a more standard 11-a-side non-squad game, but they cost to enter).

Very grateful to you both, but what would happen if someone came away from the auction with some incredible bargains, and couldn't input the team as it was over budget?? Perhaps I'm being a little thick.

I would think that would be very unlikely. There are only a handful of players at top prices in FPL and with an auction it's more likely you'll have team well under budget.

Experiment a bit with the game and see if it's reasonable to assume this.

@ Spencer, I'll have a tinker, thanks once again.
@Murf, What do others do in your experience? Do they either just do the figures themselves, or pay?....suppose I have answered my own question there.
