I've come up with a few ideas for board, dice and card games in the past; some work and some don't.

My latest is (very loosely) based around building railways to connect cities. No idea how long it would take, but would anyone be interested? Probably looking for 2 or 3 to start with. Full rules will be sent by PM and I'd post all the game details as it progressed (or not).

I'll give it a go. PM me with all the details you need.

Might be worth dropping a PM to all the FISOers that play at SBW & if your still looking for players maybe open a thread at SBW.

I'm not sure if your post implies that you intend to invent this game, cos it's sort of been done, and is one of my favourite board games!!

I dont understand the SBW reference though, so excuse me if I have missed the point.

It's not really the same, as mine invloves building the lines rather than just following those already set out. Ticket to Ride also looks a lot more involved... if only I knew a group of people who I could meet up with!

A summary in case anyone isn't sure... (think of this as the outside of the box!)

Build railway lines to connect cities and earn revenue from passengers!

Better connected cities = bigger population = more passengers!

Or play dirty and stop everyone in their tracks!

I'll give it a go.

If it takes a lot of time up though I'm happy for you to offer it out to someone else as I don't get too much pc time these days.

And they're off! AKNel1 won the bidding process to build the first railway, followed by Digsby. WHATEVER elected to keep all his money in the bank

I'll PM (or email for WHATEVER) a picture of the current board to each person as it becomes their turn. I thought I'd sent it to you this morning, but obviously didn't his send  It will be with you at lunchtime!

I'm struggling to get the PMs sent, no idea why. So I'm going to start using email instead.

I'll post the board position after the third round of moves (currently underway). That might give everyone more of an idea!

In case anyone was wondering, this hasn't been forgotten! The initial stage is taking a lot longer than I thought it would, some tweaking to the money aspect of the game is needed I think!

We've had 13 rounds of track building and only one city remains unconnected to the outside world!

OK, the building phase has now finished. The money situation is:

AKNel1 – 14 coins
Digsby – 9 coins
WHATEVER – 13 coins

I'll do some calculations later today about the population size of each city and which train company will run which lines :-)

OK, here's the population of each city:

U 6
V 5
W 1
X 6
Y 6
Z 8

And here are routes each of you will be running:

AKNel1 (red) 19 coins
U to X 2 hours
U to Y 11 hours
V to Y 6 hours
X to Z 3 hours
Y to Z 4 hours

Digsby (blue) 12 coins
U to V 3 hours
V to Z 2 hours
W to Y 7 hours

WHATEVER (black) 15 coins
U to Z 2 hours
X to Y 4 hours

If you want a copy of the final map emailling, just ask.

What I need from you now is:

1) The number of carriages you want on each route. Each carriage costs 1 coin and can carry 1 passenger.

2) The starting city for each route. Your train will run back and forth between the two cities connected by the route.

3) Thr priority number of each of your trains (where 1 is the highest priority). If two trains need the same piece of track, the higher priority train goes first.

Please send this info by PM!

A summary of what happens next:
A 24 hour timetable will run, with each train taking passengers from its starting city. Each plot of land takes an hour to cross, and a train takes an hour to turn around before beginning a return journey. You get 1 coin for each passenger that completes a journey.

I've edited the above post to include end-to-end journey times.
