Stemania arrives at the Experts training ground for first press conference

In his first interview in English football, new signing Stemania had the following to say:

"Thanks [for the welcome]. It is an honour to join a side of such footballing heritage, there was never another team in my thinking. I've always wanted to test myself in this the top league in the world.

"I understand [we] are struggling this season but this is a huge club and [we] and they [the fans] deserve success. I dream of one day taking this team back into Europe where it belongs.

"I spoke to the manager and he stated that his first aim is obviously to avoid relegation. I hear he's been getting [stickexpletive removed] from the press due to our current position [35th/36] but his long term plan for the club convinced me that this is the place for me.

"This season? Of course [we'd] have to be satisfied [to stay up], but I believe [we] have more to us than that. If they [the fans] get behind us and [we] get a run going I would be disappointed not to get a top 20 finish in all honesty. I came here for success and the team must have ambition. [We] certainly have to aim to turn it around and be in the top 30 by mid-March.

"Next season we aim to be be pushing for Europe and the season after that having a run at it [the title]. The chairman has said he will back the club if we prove we are moving in the right direction. Failure is not an option and I look forward to my debut.

"My favoured position? I will play wherever he [the manager] asks me. I will leave it to him but I believe [my record] speaks for itself. I come in level with their top scorer in terms of goals [points] scored and I think we will only serve to complement each others style of play.
