The Associated Press has reported that Lucas Glover has sustained a sprained ligament in his right knee.
Glover injured his knee while paddle boarding in Hawaii last weekend. It's not the first time that he's paddle boarded while in the Pacific, but he fell awkwardly off the board this time. He hit balls this morning but struggled in completing an effective swing. Glover then withdrew from today's pro-am. He's scheduled to tee off at 11:35 a.m. local time on Friday for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, but given the severe elevation changes at Kapalua and his status as of today, fantasy gamers are advised to invest elsewhere.

Lucas Glover has been removed from the published field of this week's Sony Open in Hawaii.No surprise. Even if he wasn't fully exempt through 2015, there is no reason for him to risk doing further damage to his injured right knee. UPDATE: Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press wrote the following on Twitter shortly after Glover withdrew: "Glover hit 3 wedges and a 9-iron before making up his mind. Hopes to be at Torrey Pines in 2 weeks."

Webb Simpson was forced to withdraw from the Transitions Championship pro-am Wednesday due to a bout with food poisoning.

Last year’s runner-up to Gary Woodland in a playoff remains hopeful that he will be able to tee it up in the opening round.

Competitors are allowed to pull out of pro-am events and still compete in tournament rounds, as long as there is a medical excuse.

Anthony Kim has withdrawn from the Valero Texas Open with a wrist injury. He had played 14 holes and was 8 over after four bogeys and a quadruple bogey. Erik Compton withdrew with illness when he made the turn. He was 7 over after three bogeys and two double bogeys.

Gary Woodland has withdrawn from the Wells Fargo Championship to give his injured left wrist another week to heal.

Woodland injured his wrist during the third round of the Masters, continued to play and withdrew after the round.

He says there is no structural damage and doctors have cleared him to play. But the former Kansas star has decided to rest the wrist. He plans to play next week at The Players Championship.

Woodland was replaced in the field by Russell Knox of Scotland.

"I've decided to pull out of the Players," Watson wrote. "I need to spend more time with Caleb and Angie, plan to take at least a month off. The Players is one of the best weeks of the year but bonding with my son and wife is what it is all about right now.

Charl Schwartzel, the 2011 winner at the Augusta National Golf Club and the 12th-ranked player in the world, informed the PGA Tour last week that he will remain at his home in South Africa to continue a family vacation. He has until 5 p.m. today to commit but Martin Hardy of International Sports Management, Schwartzel’s agency, said that to the best of his knowledge, Schwartzel has not changed his mind.

If losing the last two winners at Augusta National wasn’t all, the Tour also was informed Thursday that five-time winner Dustin Johnson, ranked 17th in the world, would be unable to play next week because of continued back problems that had forced him to withdraw from the Masters.

“Obviously, I am very disappointed to miss The Players Championship, as it’s our championship and a special week,” Johnson said in a statement.

Other injured players possibly in doubt for next week include 16th-ranked Jason Day (shoulder) and No. 68 Gary Woodland (wrist). Both players withdrew from the Masters after the tournament began. Day only returned to action this week.
