So what is your dream team for the US open (OFL compliant)...............and have you got it assembled in a team

showing my cards early - I expect a few familiar faces but the missing Mickleson and Stricker to be added to many

Donald 3.6
Kuchar 3.2
Westwood 4.0
D Johnson 3.0
Moore 1.8
Hoffman 1.2

Needless to say I dont have this out of 10 possibles LOL

Pardon my ignorance, but do they assign the starting Lineups and times just for TV value?

Notice how they've lumped the Swedes and the Italians together. Don't think we'll see much of Manassero in the TV coverage for the opening two rounds, then!

My dream six-ball would probably be something like the following:

Westwood 4.0
McIlroy 3.5
Watney 2.8 -> Kuchar 3.2 (edit)
Mahan 2.6
Day 1.8
Choi 1.6 -> Cabrera 1.5 (edit)

Haven't got any teams with all six of these, but a couple could have four or five.

I don't have this lot as a team, but if I was to add a team for this week...

Dustin Johnson (3m) Course should suit him
Robert Garrigus (1.1m) see above (plus I want to see a guy win the US Open with a kids putter!)
JJ Henry (0.7m) Only playing because of TC's withdrawal but fancy him to do well
Graeme McDowell (3.5m) form not great, but I think he will put up a good defence of his title
Matt Kuchar (3.2m) A class act - would put him in my top team if I had the budget!
Jason Day (1.8m) Should do well no matter the course

I feel a US victory in a major is long overdue and this will be the week.
No Luke Donald in my picks - after 10 consecutive top 10 finishes I think this will be the week the wheels fall off!

If I could have anyone

4.0 Westwood - currently the best weekend player in the game
3.6 Donald - Solid performer, accuracy a premium this week
2.6 Karlsson - In great form
1.7 Ishikawa - Think he is going to be a Superstar in World Golf
3.5 Mickelson - great record in US Open
3.2 Kuchar - In really good form but not great at finishing

Staying in budget

4.0 Westwood
3.6 Donald
2.5 Fowler - will win it one day, maybe too soon though
1.7 Ishikawa
1.6 Choi - steady performer
0.8 Chalmers - chips in with BR's at a decent rate

Since The Masters we have had 8 US winners in 9 events on the PGA Tour

Last year only just over half of the PGA Tour winners were American.

Using that undeniable logic we are well due a non-US winner this week

Probably something to do with the fact that the majority of PGA Tour players are from the US :P :)

I sense a real betting opportunity this week in the opening two rounds - the back nine appears (on paper, at least) much harder than the front nine (100 or so extra yards, par one less), so if anyone starts on hole 10 and manages to go through the back nine in level par or better, they should be well set for the rest of the round.

Conversely, it's only going to get worse for those struggling on the front nine.

Par fours on the back nine measure 437, 467, 471, 490, 494 and 523 - not many birdies to be had, there!

Talking of betting, I was looking at the tote's website the other night and was looking at their win market. They are offering top six at 1/4 odds, I thought not to bad. I then saw that they were also offering a top five market which was giving typically 2 points less than 1/4 odds for one less place, don't figure!!! :? What's the point?

Betting and Laying on Betfair could be VERY interesting.

Stop the round NOW!

Harrison Frazar in the lead on -1

I have £2 at 125-1 on him as the first round leader :P

Bogey at the 12th :(

Good scoreboard here by the way, quick and hole by hole scores / nice detail to the right on each player :)

Alas, he's bogeyed the third...with Nicolas Colsaerts the new outright leader.

Early indications are that level par will be a very good score...

I think the leaderboard could quite easily be tipped on it's head by the time everyone has played the obviously harder back 9. That's what I am hoping, anyway!

I have mixed feelings about LD - He's in my best performing OFL team, but kept him out of most of my YP teams and Scotsman team.

Got an OFL team with Rory / Charl / Jobe with the inevitable Senden on Bench. It is already looking one of those weeks where morepoints will be benched than scored for teams

Rory has picked up where he left off. If he can get to about 9 ahead by the end of Saturday he might be able to pick up his first major.

Better news for Andres Gonzales today - -4 for the day after 11, after a 79 with no bogeys yesterday. Funny man, hope he makes the weekend...

I'll think you'll find he had 8 bogies yesterday.

Looks like it is playing a couple of strokes easier today overall, so far.

Maybe, but only a couple of people under par today among those who started on the tenth (Van Pelt the best of these). Could see some of the 1st tee starters (including McIlroy?) slip back a fair bit.

Had Garcia for a while in my NCG team, but bottled it at the last minute. He looks ready to win again I think. Hope so.

Fans of Quiros and Garcia will be hoping they've done the hard work, getting onto the front nine around level par. Also, all those involved in the gamble on Snedeker at 100/1- not me, needless to say..

Gadzooks! Just noticed McIlroy is leading by 8 shots. Come on my little Irish friend! I have him in no teams, but did back him e/w at 20/1 - but I just want to see him lose those Augusta demons straight away.
