Here is my first idea for my 2011/12 team.

GK - P Cech CHE - 4.8
FB - B Assou-Ekotto TOT - 3.8
FB - B Sagna ARS - 4.3
FB - J Riise FUL - 3.6
CB - N Vidic MU - 5.2
CB - J Terry CHE - 5.2
CB - K Toure MC - 4.3
MF - G Bale TOT - 4.6
MF - M Etherington STO - 4.1
MF - S Larsson SUN - 3.8
MF - C Lee BOL - 3.9
MF - C Brunt WBA - 4.2
MF - T Cahill EVE - 4.7
MF - M Jarvis WOL - 3.9
ST - R Van Persie ARS - 7.7
ST - L Suarez LIV - 6.9

Please critique my team.

I've spent a lot on defense, because I find that is the hardest place to find bargains. I find it easier to get bargain midfielders. I've bought 2 proven strikers who should be automatic first choice for their team.

I think Drogba is a little old and could be replaced by Torres. I had Tevez last season and he scored a lot of points, but he is unsettled. I would like Lampard too, but I would have to buy some cheaper defenders to afford him.

Should I swap Van Persie for Tevez? Am I missing any bargains in midfield or strikers from the newly promoted clubs?

Personally I think using one of your two Chelsea picks on Cech is a waste of money, I have the cheapest non-playing keeper available currently drafted in.

Also I wouldn't touch a Spurs defender, especially one that doesn't produce a great deal going forward. Same goes for Sagna, not a great return for CS and he contributes very little from the attacking side.

Riise, if he produces anything like he's done in the past then a bargain.

Vidic and Terry a lot of your budget but both should provide a good points return.

Kolo Toure is still suspended and even if he wasn't how likely is he to get in the side?

Bale as a mf, I'd say there is a lot better value for your 4.6m elsewhere.

Rest of the midfield should provide a fair return for their prices.

RVP if he stays fit and Arsenal have any midfielders left to provide then yes, could easily be one of the top performers.

Suarez, not so sure whether he's going to score enough goals to be VFM.

No Lampard and no Man U front men, big omissions!

Thanks for the advice Vid. I will replace K Toure. I forgot about the drugs ban. I'll replace him with Lescott or Kompany.

You are right about Spurs defense. They haven't had any additions, have a dodgy keeper, and conceded a lot of goals last season. I'll replace Assou-Ekotto too. Maybe an Everton or other midtable team fullback.

I'm a Liverpool fan, so I have blind faith in Suarez :)

I also think Chec could be a waste of a CHE pick as you could get someone like Luiz for just 0.2 more who will still get the defensive points, but also pick up assists and goals. having said that I believe in having a reliable keeper and there is not much of a saving to get an alternative. perhaps the best of the "cheapies" would be Begovic at Stoke.

As a Spurs fan I would also advise against a Spurs defender.

I notice that you have no players from a promoted team, I usually like to have a punt on at least one, perhaps Taarabt, Sinclair or Bothroid could fit the bill.

I reallly like this team.

I'd say Cech is a good goalkeeper as he's 0.4 less than the two guaranteed Chelsea defence starters (Cole and Terry), whereas many keepers are only 0.2 less or even the same price as their key defenders. Luiz at 5.0 looks good, but my worry is he'll rotate with Alex. If Luiz is a nailed on 38 game starter, then obviously he's the better choice. If not then at least Cech is guaranteed to play every game and 15 or so clean sheets.

Obviously Toure has to go (I'd change to Kompany or Clichy) and Lee of Bolton is out too. I think maybe some pre-season friendlies may change a few picks.

I'd avoid Arsenal defenders UNLESS it's Cahill/Samba/Jagielka signs as they're cheaper and allow three Gooners. Sagna and co are overpriced.

Suarez could be great but should you start the season with him, given noises from Kenny that he may be rested after the Copa America.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Riise is a must for all long-time FF players for sheer nostalgia value. I was just hoping Ian Harte got promoted too. Warning: I thought the same about Martin Petrov last year!
