Hi Horton,

In League 2 I anticipate only the top 8 can now realistically win:

1st Game Andrew Miller $30,467,958 (5 Mul Used)
2nd Man United's #2 Fan Colin Robertson $29,924,202 (6 Mul)
3rd Deadeyeduck Jerry Duckworth $29,830,194 (6 Mul)
4th Horton Mumblemouse James Lewis $29,186,800 (5 Mul)
5th Checker Winnahs Joe Monso $28,307,815 (6 Mul)
6th Matt14 Matt Stanke $27,875,389 (4 Mul)
7th Fairways And Greens Brian Michaels $27,795,933 (5 Mul)
8th Taxguy3 Jim Stokoe $27,701,995 (4 Mul)

When you get into the final weeks with limited picks this game certainly gets you thinking :? Will be very interesting to see if any do pick Tiger this week and what those with Mulligans / a pick left do if Tiger happens to have a lead after 36 holes. That said St Andrews will be the usual long hitting, bunker and putting contest so Tiger should clean up if he plays anywhere near decent.

The John Deere field will be very weak, few quality players will compete if they are playing in The Open the week afterwards.

Good luck with your picks this week :)

Belated well done to Peoples in the High Stakes comp - $550 an excellent return :D

Good to see FISO players finding some form in John's game.

Well done Michael, $400 for third place in High Stakes to add to your $150 section prize is certainly a good return on your $100 investment.

Well done Peoples, FISO showing up well this year in this format.

Good luck, MU #1 Fan.....I will definitely keep Tiger for St Andrews where his errant driver shouldn't matter too much. As for this week, has Verplank got another good week in him?......and don't forget O'Hair is a member at Aronimink.

League 2 picks this week :

1 Game Fowler Rose Woods
2 Man United's #2 Fan Barnes Crane Moore
3 Deadeyeduck Barnes de Jonge Verplank
4 Horton Mumblemouse Barnes O'Hair Verplank
5 Checker Winnahs Barnes Moore Verplank
6 Matt14 Barnes Fowler O'Hair
7 Fairways And Greens Barnes Moore Verplank
8 Taxguy3 Moore Singh, V Yang
9 Team Tiger Barnes Micheel Van Pelt
10 Daught Barnes Fowler Verplank

Masterstroke by Game if Woods wins this week, will put him way out ahead, how many will cover that move at the weekend if Woods is in contention :?

Not much will change if Barnes wins but a Crane victory would be very nice :D

Thanks for the congrats 8-) Not a bad return in my debut season, especially as I was around 40th place after 8 tournaments. Haven't heard anything from John yet, probably busy sorting all the leagues that finished.

Trotter finished 7th & won a t-shirt  Bet he's well chuffed with that. I think he should take a pic of himself wearing it & put it as his avatar.

Congrats Michael! $550 USD is definitely a nice return on your investment -- especially for your very first PTFG league. I haven't sent you your prize money because you haven't filled out your prize claim form (as mentioned in the site wide announcement posted immediately after the season ended). This step is required in order to verify your mailing address, etc. Please do this as soon as possible and I will get your winnings to you. Colin had his League 1 winnings within 48 hours of the league completing (via PayPal). Although it is a little hectic with several leagues ending at once, I don't like to keep people waiting and try to get the prizes distributed as quickly as possible. There is a purple "Claim Prize" button is accessible on the home page and Prizes page (assuming you're logged in).

Ian - Please do the same so I can mail you your golf shirt prize.

John

P.S. It's not a t-shirt. It's very nice PGA Tour golf shirt embroidered with "Pro Tour Fantasy Golf" script. Everyone who has won a shirt has loved them. I don't skimp on the shirts because I want people to enjoy wearing them. Plus, it makes for good advertising

League 2 standings with two weeks to go :

1st Game Andrew Miller $32,906,718 5 Mulligans Used
2nd Man United's #2 Fan Colin Robertson $32,412,562 6 Mul
3rd Fairways And Greens Brian Michaels $30,277,421 5 Mul
4th Deadeyeduck Jerry Duckworth $30,216,856 6 Mul
5th Checker Winnahs Joe Monso $29,836,155 6 Mul
6th Horton Mumblemouse James Lewis $29,786,132 5 Mul
7th Taxguy3 Jim Stokoe $29,685,995 4 Mul
8th Jewish Mafia Adam Law $29,537,836 6 Mul

Bit of a gap between the top two and the rest, three good selections at The Open would be very handy. Would be very nice to add the League 2 title to League 1 :P

The very weak field at this weeks John Deere probably will result in some similar lineups.

Final week selections in League 2 are :

1 Game : Harrington McDowell Woods
2 Man United's #2 Fan : Fisher McDowell C Wood $1,803,890 behind
3 Deadeyeduck : Lehman McDowell Woods $2,474,262 behind
4 Fairways And Greens : McDowell McIlroy Poulter $4,057,127 behind
5 Horton Mumblemouse : Casey Harrington Woods $4,493,884 behind

I suspect the vast majority will bring in Oosthuizen, e.g for Harrington, but he may well blow up (Rory style) under the pressure :?

Now do I follow the crowd with Oosthuizen and write off any chances of winning, or gamble on Calc or Barnes say for a shock win  Canizares will probably finish in the morning, guess I need to see how he finishes before making a decision.

Could play ultra safe with Lehman just to cover Deadeyeduck, but I just can't see him winning.

Casey is looking good for you Horton :)

Casey giving me a good run for my money, wish he had holed a couple coming in. Oosthuizen looking the goods on the back 9, how will he cope on the back 9 tomorrow.....and will anyone get close enough to put him under pressure? Casey's record at the pointy end of Majors not that good....still Horton unlikely to lose ground which is good cos I already have a PTFG shirt (quality product, by the way!).

Looks like 2nd for you MU fan (especially after Deadeye Duck's decision not to sub). 1st and 2nd is a pretty fine effort with the other leagues also looking good.

Hi Horton,

I think Fairways and Greens (4th) and Taxi Guy (6th) both have a mulligan left so it will be Oosthuizen & Casey combo's all around (other than me!). I need to check out the maths, but I guess an Oosthuizen win (or an unlikely Casey flop) will keep me in second overall. I have Casey in my starting line up for my third placed team in League 4 so should have all the bases covered.

Shot of the day has to be Jimenez's 4th shot rebounded off the Road Hole wall onto the green

2nd Man United's #2 Fan Colin Robertson $34,800,629
3rd Fairways And Greens Brian Michaels $33,325,499

8th Taxguy3 Jim Stokoe $32,425,650
9th Jewish Mafia Adam Law $31,894,415
10th Meglew Ian Trow $31,231,144

Three Fiso players in the top ten :P

Oost's stroll to victory meant little change this week with nobody picking him, everyone (more or less) subbing him in and the remaining players sharing minor place money.

Deadeyeduck must be gutted to see Lehman, McDowell and Woods all fall away after their promising 36 hole positions.

$250 winnings to add to $600 from League 1 means I have already more than doubled my $400 total investment with two Leagues still to go 8-)

Any more Fiso'ers going to play FedEx or Fall Series?

Hi MU fan,

Jiminez's shot was quality, if I'd tried that it would have just rebounded into my face.

Well done on another excellent campaign; I am showing a profit too on a more minor scale with $100 and a rather nice shirt on my $75 laid down. I will be entering the Fedex Cup and Fall Series.....have decided to leave my $100 on account with John as the bank will take too big a chunk if I try and change it into real money.

Horton :)

Final week League 3 USPGA Selections :

1 Man United's #4 Fan McIlroy Oosthuizen Watney
2 Goofballs Fisher Kaymer Watney
3 Checkers Parbusters Ames de Jonge McIlroy
4 Drive 4 Show Johnson, D McIlroy Watney
5 Goosers Kaymer Overton Stricker
6 Dobiesfan Choi Kaymer Van Pelt
7 L3Victory Kaymer Overton Watney
8 Spanking Whitey Overton Scott Watney
9 Soigothatgoin4me Goosen Johnson, D McIlroy
10 Bob Barker McIlroy Oosthuizen Scott

Don't think Watney will actually win, but selected him as I guessed others would be picking him

Players in red are my main threats as I can't cover them with my Sat Sub.

Hopefully Rory will finally realise his undoubted potential and win his first major.

USPGA Scores approaching the end of the second round :

1 Man United's #4 Fan McIlroy -5 Oosthuizen +2 Watney -7
2 Goofballs Fisher +8 Kaymer -3* Watney -7
3 Checkers Parbusters Ames +4 de Jonge -2* McIlroy -5

5 Goosers Kaymer -3* Overton +1 Stricker L
6 Dobiesfan Choi +1* Kaymer -3* Van Pelt -3*

Looks like Oosthuizen will miss the cut, guess Kaymer is the obvious sub assuming he plays the last six holes in par / better.

Drive4show has a chance if Johnson wins - you would then need 359K from your sub to beat him :(

Checkers Parbusters has little chance, though De Jonge is putting in a sprint finish (-6 after 12 today  ).

Goofballs needs a Kaymer win, plus a good pick for his 3rd player.

Kaymer would certianly be the best cover option (as you can't pick Johnson, De Jonge or indeed most of the top 5), although Van Pelt/Noh/Bubba are tempting too :?
