From the makers of Tour De FISO, comes a new creation.
Well my batteries are recharged after a couple of seasons off the side game circuit and I'm looking to run a very intricate, weekly decision making based side game based on the back 9 on Sunday at the US Masters.
I know there have been golf styled games on here before but I cant be bothered looking at them all to see whether my idea will have any new value - I am sure the veterans on here will set me right if it's been done before.
Every GW the elite 12 man field (all locked together at 8 under at the turn) will need to decide what shot they want to play given what they think their team can do. Can they manage themselves around the course, take risks when required, and hole the clutch putt.
This will be quite fluid as small GW's and Double GW's mean scores/results will have to be taken into account.
As an example, let's take Hole 10. GW1 is your tee shot. A choice of driver or 3 wood off the tee. Take the driver and you will have a smaller window of points to put it on the fairway....but an easier approach shot in GW2. Take the 3 wood for a better chance to be on the short grass, but get it wrong and you are a long way back with your 2nd.
GW2 will see the players either in A1 position (laced the driver into position), Good (a nice driver or laced 3 wood), OK (driver or 3 wood just not catching the downslope) or Nasty (Bad drive or 3 wood)
Each would have two alternatives for that GW with risk/reward choices.
Those on the green after GW2 can choose to simply walk away with 2 putt. Or they can putt for birdie...and risk a 3 putt. Those that miss the green will need to chip...the closer the better to the target score for the GW if they want to save par.
Hope that gives you a taste.
Like the Tour De FISO, luck can play a part....maybe there will be a lucky pts number that results in a hole out....or hitting the pin and rebounding into the bunker!
Each Par 4 will take 4 weeks, Each Par 5 will take 5 GW's, and each Par 3 will take 4 weeks....a total of 38GW's
As The Chairman I get to decide who gets invited so any players wanting to be in the elite field needs to post with 3 essential things.
1. A golfers name incorporating all or part of their poster name...extra credit for a connection to a past Masters Champion. Those who played the Tour De FISO will know what I'm talking about.
2. Their final World position in 2009/10 FPL
3. A little sample of their knowledge of the back 9 at Augusta....extra credit for originality.
That's it for now...will be interested in your thoughts
