Felithing to go with Moyes?
I would hope that the 'apparently' is bollocks. Not that I wouldn't get fully behind him if appointed!
Weir and Stubbs are there, and I think Andy Holden was a centre half too. Take yer pick! -

Vegard Forren, central defender playing for Molde. We've been linked a few times, but 5 (FIVE) Everton representatives were reportedly watching him tonight playing against FC Copenhagen in the Europa League.
Weir, Round, Moyes, Holden and Bryan King (Everton's scout in Scandinavia) - Do you reckon they do an x-factor style vote on whether they like him or not?
How's your Norwegian?

Re: Shelvey JOKE SENDING OFF OR WHAT
23 Sep 2012, 21:46
Bad tackle from Shelvey and totally unnecessary really, young lad fired up I guess but he needs to work on his temperament.
However, I honestly thought Evans was just as bad, two feet off the ground. He did the same on Stuart Holden and he's still not properly recovered.
Thought Liverpool were excellent, fabulous goal from Gerrard on his weaker left side. Suarez looked dangerous if still a little erratic. They were unlucky really. -
Re: Aston Villa seasonal blog - The Lambert reign!
29 Jun 2012, 22:30
Villa belong in the prem. I actually thought at one stage last season that they would be the one surprise team that was relegated.
Thankfully, I think you've addressed the primary problem and appointed someone with great potential and a proven record of doing well on a tight budget which you are going to need. Unlikely to be able to pick too many up from the Euros in your price range but Lambert knows the Championship well so that's probably where he will do most of his business (possibly cherry picking from relegated teams for players such as J Hoilett, S Fletcher, M Jarvis, K Davies, S Holden, I Klasnic etc).
Purely speculating from the Euros alone for the roles TheTon thinks need attention, I think the following could still be considered as making a step up and still within budget:
Two full backs: S Poulsen (Denmark) and Gebre-Selassie (Czech) are both attacking-minded full backs who impressed (although the latter has just signed for W Bremen). Debuchy (Fra) unlikely to join. Pereira (Por) maybe?
One very good centre half: M Hummels (Ger) unlikely and beyond budget, K Papadopoulos would probably want a bigger move but looks solid, but G Schildenfeld (Croatia) and R Vlaar (Hol) could fill the void and be in budget
Another centre mid: Jiracek (Cze) would be excellent but unlikely to agree move from current club; likewise someone like Moutihno (Por) and Veloso (Por)
One each left and right midfield: Krohn-Dehli (Den), Pilar (Cze), Konoplyanka (Ukr) possible; Yarmolenko (Ukr) and Menez (Fra) unlikely. Obraniak (Pol) played well (and good on set pieces)while being overshadowed by Blas...ski and Lewandowski
One forward: Is Mandzukic (Cro) beyond the realms? Can play withdrawn 2nd striker behind Bent. Reus and Schurrle (Ger) probably looking for a bigger move now -
Relegated players to get poached
14 May 2012, 10:31
Hoilett is the most promising of them all IMO. Jarvis is a bit inconsistent, I don't think he's worth more than 5m. I'd be happy if Villa could get either, however unlikely that may be. Same for O'hara, but his injuries concern me a little, and Fletcher would be a decent buy for anyone from probably Fulham down.
Agree that Holden and Lee were big losses for Bolton. Mark Davis is a decent player, but not better than a bottom 6-8 team.
As for Blackburn, just Hoilett for me although I think Paul Robinson is definitely a top flight keeper. -
Relegated players to get poached
13 May 2012, 23:25
My bets are on a few players from each team--more than usual, perhaps, as these squads had some real talent (FWIW I think Bolton going down was a result of Holden and Lee being out all season. They are top 6 material)
Bolton
Bogdan
Holden (if he's the same player post-injury)
Klasnic
Jaaskelainen (could make a good acquisition for a newly promoted team)
Lee CY (IMO the player Liverpool should have bought instead of Downing)
Blackburn
Robinson
MGP
N'Zonzi
Olsson
Hoilett
(Yak?)
Wolves
Jarvis
Doyle
Milijas maybe? Admittedly there is nobody coming out of this campaign with any credit. Truly dreadful football all-round -
Re: Phil Gartside - Bolton Chairman
13 May 2012, 22:40AkNotSpur wrote:The prediction that I made in my early days on FISO (2003/04?) that neither Bolton or Blackburn would be in the Premiership in 10 years time may well come true - although, given that neither is exactly a glamour club - I don't think that exactly qualifies for a Nostradamus Award.
Get this: Swansea, Norwich and Reading won't be in the prem in 10years time
Sad to see Bolton go for me, would much rather QPR, but they saw players go and weren't replaced and Ngog as a striker with Davies ageing meant they were struggling for goals - Holden is a huge player for them and in the championship he'll be a star -

Re: Martin Petrov or John Walters? POLL
16 Sep 2011, 4:34
I wouldn't touch Bolton until they find some form. Petrov needs service, but will he even get the ball without a midfield engine? No Holden, and I can't say their midfielders excite me terribly. No passing range without young Stuart. -

Re: Bolton 2011/12 General Chat & Starting X1 Thread
09 Aug 2011, 10:19
I expect Bolton to line up something like this v QPR
Jaaskalainen
Steinnson Cahill Zat Knight Robinson
Eagles Reo Coker Pratley Petrov
Kevin Davies Klasnic
Stuart Holden will definitely go back into the centre midfield when he returns from injury sometime around Sept/ Oct.
I'd also expect Muamba to play some games at the expense of Reo Coker or Pratley.A new striker will most likely be signed before the end of the transfer window,at the expense of Klasnic - who isn't fit enough for 90 mins every week. -
Re: The Dyer League - Find the Worst Value Team!
01 Aug 2011, 20:55
The Exclusion List (for your initial entries)
Diaby - Arsenal
Eboue - Arsenal
Holden - Bolton
Ricketts - Bolton
Essien - Chelsea
Sturridge - Chelsea - Banned
Gera - Fulham - Banned
Gerrard - Liverpool
K Toure - Man C - Banned
Ben Arfa - Newcastle
Fuller - Stoke
Higginbotham - Stoke
Gordon - Sunderland
Sandro - Tottenham
Remember, you can pick these players if you want to pay a hefty penalty, though you'd be pretty stupid to do so. You can pick Fabregas if you like, even though it looks likely he'll move to Barca before the Summer is out, but remember if he does move, he'll be on the exclusion list for TW1 and thus you'll have to either transfer him out or accept a hefty points penalty.
If there are any glaring players missed off the exclusion list, feel free to pick them! -

Here's a list. I mostly just searched fantasyfootball scout. Maybe people could add names to the list or remove a couple.
Diaby - Arsenal
Eboue - Arsenal
Holden - Bolton
Ricketts - Bolton
Essien - Chelsea
Sturridge - Chelsea - Banned
Gera - Fulham - Banned
Gerrard - Liverpool
K Toure - Man C - Banned
Ben Arfa - Newcastle
Fuller - Stoke
Higginbotham - Stoke
Gordon - Sunderland
Sandro - Tottenham -
Re: Poll: This Season's Top Midfield enablers
01 Aug 2011, 17:10
In past seasons 'enablers' have been sub £3m generally, given this years prices I'd up that to £3.2m max, £3.5m is not an enabler
Hunt, Holden, Kranjcar, Benayoun
, Muamba, Moses, Malbranque, Rodwell, Murphy, Cleverly, Gibson, SWP, Formica, Kightly, the list is endless, is the list any good though -

"The Korean midfielder sustained a double fracture of his lower right leg and is expected to be side-lined for a minimum of nine months."
Yeah, saw that. Feel bad for him and for Bolton with Holden out as well.
That said, I'm going Hoolahan and Sinclair for cheap attacking midfielders. -

CY Lee, Bolton's main assist provider, out with a broken leg. Holden out for months. Bolton's going to run into a lot of trouble early in the season, have a feeling they'll be back on the 4-4-2 hoofball for a few matches. So, nah. I've got a soft spot for them with Coyle in charge, but meh. -
