Football
Manager
Managers league - this is a basic free to enter football manager game
based around the FA Premier League. Each player must pick a team up to the value of £68
million. Each team must not have more than 4 players from any one Premiership team.
Periodically, special offers appear on the site, advertising key players at (sometimes)
knocked down prices. You are allowed 10 transfers in your team during the season. One
drawback this season is that there is only a limited number of each player available. If
the player you want is out of stock, you must watch for transfers in case
somebody else sells him. A nice touch to avoid too many players having the same team.
Office
League - as above, but a league formed amongst friends or
colleagues.
Footy Fantasy
This is a slightly unusual fantasy football game. The scoring system is similar to all
other games, with players being awarded points for clean sheets, scoring goals, etc.
However, the leagues are split in 1 Jackpot League (which covers the entire season) and 3
further Mini Leagues, each covering part of the season. Entry to
the Jackpot League automatically gets your team a free entry in Mini League 1. Entry to
the Jackpot League is £10 and entry to the subsequent Mini Leagues is £5 per league. You
must pick a 15 man squad. There are no monetary values involved, however the organisers
have picked a number of Star Players, of which you can only pick 1 in your
team. This, therefore, limits how many quality players you can have in your
team. These Star Players are the organisers' choice and do not include some of
the quality players in the Premiership, so there is still scope to pick an awesome squad.
You have a choice of squad formations for the first 11, and you must pick 1 reserve for
each position (goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker). Reserves only score points when
one of your first 11 takes no part in a Premiership match. First prize was
£1,000 for 2001/02. Updated review 27 July 2001.

Free-Fantasy-Football.tv
A game with a fresh look at fantasy football. Not only do you pick your team and your manager, you must
also pick a football ground at which to play. The more fans you get to watch
your team, the more money
you generate. You may upgrade your stadium, increase or decease (!!!) prices to get in.
This different tilt makes the game more interesting as the better the ground you
choose, the less money you have to spend on your team. Your must pick a manager, a ground
and 11 players in any formation from a list of options but you can only have
3 from any club. For 02/03 you can choose from Serie A players as well as
the English Premiership. You are allowed plenty of player transfers, however you must keep your manager for the entire season.
You can either enter for free (Amateur) or pay to play (Professional) - but
the Pro has an advantage.
There are 3 mini-season games as well as the full length season game. Total
prize pot for 2002/03 is £40,000.
Key changes for 2003/04:
- Managers can now pick from 4 European leagues
(Premiership, La Liga, Serie 'A' and Bundesliga).
- Managers pick 11 players, 1 manager and stadium
(stadiums now scorepoints based on attendances).
- When the season kicks-off users will be able to
subscribe to SMS fantasy team
updates - which means managers will receive points scored, positions
gained/lost in the league and overall league position
within a couple of hours of the final results on
Saturday and Sunday to their mobile phones.
- 'Transfer amnesty' until Midnight GMT 14th August
2003. So users can pick their team today - and play
around with it - without having to worry about
transfer, injury and prediction news unsettling their first choice!
The 1st prize for 2003/04 is tickets for 2 to the Euro
2004 final in Lisbon (flights, accommodation and
tickets). We are also providing 'Team of the Month'
prizes - as opposed to mini-season prizes. The 'Team of the Month' prizes
are Tickets for 2 to a variety of European games (Flights/accommodation
and tickets to the games). Updated review 12 July
2003.
The
Gloucester Fantasy Football League - TGFFL
TGFFL is a fantasy football site based
on the English Premier League and FA Cup. Established for 10 years with
cash prizes approximately £1,000 in total. Small leagues mean realistic
chances of winning, plus they aim to treat their managers as individuals
rather than just one of thousands of anonymous registration numbers.
Updated review 5 August 2002.
The
Hot-Shots Fantasy Football League
The FREE to play 'Hot-Shots Fantasy
Football League' is run by the 'Roy of the Rovers' site, with monthly and
end of season prizes. Using the Hot-Shots theme, ten goalscorers (and one
goalie) make up your team in the Hot-Shots league. Points are accumulated
when goals are scored by any of your 10 goalscorers (or if your goalie
keeps a clean sheet) but points are deducted if any of your players are
booked or sent off. Limited transfers are allowed. The rules make it very
simple to follow and understand. Your "goalscorers" will all be
from the Premier League and there will be restrictions on numbers selected
from teams. The webmaster is from Lancaster, England and the site and game
is provided in association with the copyright holders who are based in
London, England. Even though it is a 'Roy of the Rovers' site, there is
still an emphasis on football talk and there is also a ‘Talk In”
Message Board. If you want an easy introduction to fantasy football, then
this is the league for you.
